I've been on plenty of job interviews. You get used to rejection after a while.

I've heard getting shot hurts pretty bad.

Just kidding...time gives perspective. Often the opportunities we don't get turn out to be crap we didn't anticipate.

Have I ever felt disappointment?

Yes.

This place is weird. Every human on earth has experienced disappointment.

My daughter is a recent graduate and has been interviewing. While some companies have been very helpful, most just seem to not be very good at communicating.

She was flown in last week for an interview with her dream job, I hope she doesn't feel like the OP later this week.

Missed two opportunities over time. Both with Minnesota based companies...hmmm. First one list was to a woman. Can’t blame the old guy interviewing me for choosing differently. She was good looking and would give it up.
Second time company actually invested real money in me to set up specific testing and training and I was told they had to hire an AA to appease the EEOC.
It happens.

And this is why we primarily use spinning reels.

Oh... and getting fired.

Things will look up and get better.

Years ago I applied for a job at a plant in either plaquemine or brusly- I cant recall the name of the plant. It was a admin job that I was qualified, a guy that that was a vendor of a company that I did business with also applied. I later learned.
I got a call from the headhunter that I didn’t get the job. I was really shocked.
I figured it end up being salary or similar.
Everyday at about 4 or 5 pm I’m so thankful that I didn’t get that job and fight that damn bridge traffic.

Getting passed over for a promotion when the person who did get the promotion is very unqualified sucks ever more because then you get to sit and watch that person flounder in the position every day while said person enjoys the ~40% raise.

Over 15 years ago and I'm still bitter over it. She only lasted 9 months in the position, then they decided not to fill the position after firing her. I read the writing on the wall and left soon after.

It happens.
Just like sports, dating, life, etc.
Win some you lose some.

Wish there was a magic pill there is not.

Winners get back up, practice to become better, and that is how winning is done.

Move on and focus on the next opportunity.

Practice and fine polish those interview skills.
Come back stronger and someone will see you as a great fit for them.

Could have been you fell short, someone just brought more to the table nothing against you, or they had someone picked before hand they just wanted last look.

I wouldn't want to work for any company that would hire me as an employee.

Larger companies use this all of the time when hiring. It's illegal, but they frequently do.

I got hired on with 14 other people. I'm seemingly white, but my heritage is Hispanic, so I put that on my applications. Out of the 15, there was only one white guy, and he was gay. It was blatantly obvious when I showed up for the first day
