Think of how good the gas mileage would be. You would only have to drive like 30 minutes then the car would be stopped for 1.5 hours.

To this day, I think how much physics wasn't used in that thread.

I mean... you really can't have wings or splitters on your street legal car if you want it to go 300mph.

I love car threads, but man... one really has to wade through some dipshits on here (not you OP).

I dunno, I bet 1500-2000hp gets you there.

Have you ever run standing miles? There is no way 2000hp gets you to 300, even with the Cd and frontal area of a GT.

For an example the Mayhem 2.0 Porsche 911 is 1500hp and runs in the 230s. That is a car that traps over 170 in the 1/4.

The Venom GT did 250 and its only got 1200hp. aero dynamics and weight are what gets you there

The Ford GTs have been dominating 1/2

UNdergrounf has been dominating the 1/2 mile along with the ETS GT-R for quite a while They are both going at or just over 250 in the 1/2 mile. No one has wanted to try a mile other than the Ford in a long time. I used to follow this racing very closely as I used to run quite a few of these events in my 1500 hp Gtr. I think that the UNderground twin turbo Huracans are over 2500 whp now.

Pretty sure it took a lot longer than a mile to get to 250

Anyone notice that the parachute ripped off the car at the end?

Kind of wish they wouldn't have stopped the video. What happens trying to stop from 293 mph? Did he run out of track?

That is the Bohmer car, it was on the Spaceport in Florida and he was able to get it stopped but cracked the rear discs and the heat was so intense he thought the car was on fire. Had he been at say the Texas Mile he would have been in the gravel since you only have a 1/2 mile to slow down enough to turn into the return road, plus there are airport lights there too, could have been nasty.

Physics? How about some basic math and a lick of common sense.

My favorite part was his explanation about how the chemist (I think the genius in question was a chemist) could explain it better than he could. Once the chalkboard was covered in diagrams and calculations (that MJ2 couldn't explain) it was much easier to understand.

Not a lot to be intrigued by. The Nissan Z concept and the 600hp LC F were the only ones I bothered to read about. Was hoping for more Supra info.

I'm guessing they just chance it with the tires? Or do they have tires that are actually rated for 300mph? I know Bugatti had to shave off a mm of tread just to get theirs to work at what, 250? $20k for the set of veyron michelins

edit: spelling
