Which is interesting considering the GT's routinely get beat by Gallardo/Huracans and GTRs in the 1/2 mile. Those two cars routinely win the events.

And that's where it gets insane. My weekend toy does an 8 second 8th. That's 140hp in a sub 1500lb rig. A buddy has the same, with 415hp and he's doing low 6s. 20k for 1.8 seconds.

The strong money GTs have been focused on the mile record and that 300 mph club for a street legal door slammer. The problem for GTRs is they are bricks and even 3000hp only gets you about 250 in the 1/2 mile. If the VR38DETT was a 5.4l DR54DETT it might be a different story. The Lambos are much better aero wise but much more expensive to get the huge HP numbers out of. The GT is simply the best platform capability and cost-benefit wise to run for 1 mile records.
Plus, in the end there aren't a lot of people that have the balls to run 300 in more or less a street car. I have always had plenty of stupid in me but ~200mph mile runs are about all I care to do but admittedly I am a Porshe guy so over 185 or so and the front end starts to feel like it is filled with helium.

It has gotten INSANE, there are guys running threes on drag radials trapping right around 200. (obviously a fully prepped track). Hell, the door car 1/8 trap is over 220. Whole different world to when I played in that pond, we were considered crazy to have 50-60k in a car today 200k+ is becoming "normal".

If you know Mullet, he's routinely out here with his GT.

He's pretty much out of it. Since his wife passed away he hasn't been the same. Both his lambo and GT are or were for sale.

Yes, Gallardos are getting into the 2200hp range curious how much farther they can take them.
I had a 997.1 TS with "only" about 850hp but I am mainly a road track guy, my wife totalled it (no pics and she is a better driver than anyone that was thinking of asking) so now I am looking for a used 991.2 TS in the exact color combo I want but probably will only go to about 750hp since I want to keep it and not stress the PDK. I used to run 1 or 2 standing mile events a year just for fun but never did TX2K as I am not into roll racing.
