Getting close to 300mph in the standing mile for a street legal car

Two of the 290mph + runs
292.9mph
293.6mph
The Ford GTs have been dominating 1/2 and 1 mile standing start racing for several years now. The Texas Mile is this weekend, wondering if we will get a 300mph run. Anyone that has done these knows what it takes just to get to 200 or 210, those GTs have to be running near 3000hp. The other thing that is amazing is with stock aero they stay on the ground at these speeds most (even supercars) are beginning to show significant front end lift at 220-230.

Why would I need a"street legal" car that goes 300mph?

To make one's tiny penis feel bigger...

You obviously don't live your life a quarter mile at a time.

To beat the cops to Dunkin Donuts

Seems practical.

Dominant indeed. Haven't seen Underground Racing challenge the Ford GT boys in a long time. The aerodynamics on those 05/06 GT were at least a decade ahead of any rival.

Doubt they are running any today or tomorrow, 15-20 mph crosswind at 250 would be a bit interesting I'm sure.

I dunno, I bet 1500-2000hp gets you there.

But where do I attach my truck nuts?

That's some amazing gas mileage.

Think of how good the gas mileage would be. You would only have to drive like 30 minutes then the car would be stopped for 1.5 hours.

It brings shame to my ancestors that I have but one upvote to give you.

Anyone notice that the parachute ripped off the car at the end?
Kind of wish they wouldn't have stopped the video. What happens trying to stop from 293 mph? Did he run out of track?
