Getting baby to nap in the crib

My 10 month old has no problem sleeping in the crib at night from basically 6:30 PM to 5 or 6 AM. He may wake up one or two times, let out a cry, and fall back asleep.
We're running into problems getting him to nap in the crib during the day. He will take naps. Just they're in my wife's lap, next to us in the bed, or in his swing which he's getting too big for. But he screams bloody murder if put in the crib.
Any ideas how to correct? At this point we just stick him in there and hope eventually he'll get tired and go to bed.

Give him a little rum on the gums.
He's teething.

stop giving him an option for other places

Try warming a blanket in your dryer first, then laying the baby on top of that in the crib.

That's what I did. They aren't the boss. Ignore the screaming and he'll fall asleep eventually. Don't give up, you're the boss.

Better sheets possibly. As my daughter got older we had to get her new pillows to get her to sleep in her bed. So a different pillow maybe.

Yup. Make sure they are comfy and fed and clean. Give them some attention, sing a lullaby.
And after that let them cry it out.
If you don't they will learn that crying and screaming gets them whatever they want.
Knew a chick who did this and now her little brats scream all the time. Annoying as shite.

we use those magic sleep suit things, and they are awesome!

what difference does it make at 10 months old?
Yep, let them scream it out. Usually takes about 3 days for changes like this.

1) Cherish those naps on your chest or next to you in bed. No matter what you do, they won't always want that.
2) We let ours cry it out. Full belly, fresh diaper, and we may or may not lay in the room with him for a bit (my wife does more than I do). After that, a kiss and out the door.
A few time when our son was especially angry, I told him I'd be right back, I had to go get his bear (or whatever it was). Then I waited until about 3 minutes after he started crying and brought him his bear. Sat in the room for a few minutes, and then said I'll be right back, I had to go get his toy. He fell asleep waiting and never cried.
10 months is probably too young for this, but something to keep in mind.

Pack 'n Play in a darker part of the house.

because i have helicopter parents as friends (meaning my wife's friends) that scream "back to sleep" "SIDS" and their kids don't sleep and they don't know why.
my kids went to their bellies at 5 months and i began sleeping again.

Put him in the crib and walk away.
We had to do that with my son at the same age. He was a champ after that. Put him in a room by himself and he would fall asleep. It's hard hearing your kid cry, but the rewards are worth it when when they get older and fall asleep on their own.

I got you. Yeah all three of mine went in their own beds at 5 months. I'm sure at 10 months the kid is rolling on whatever side he wants to sleep on.

Put him in the truck and take him for a ride. Worked like a charm with mine.
