Probably the "enter your ID" to look at snatch
What about the inner city folk who are not smart enough to look at a map and find there way to the DMV to get an ID?

It’s not perfect, but it’s better than nothing. It’s way too easy for kids to access porn otherwise.
Take away your kids access to the internet. Absolutely impossible for them to get to porn.

Utah banned Pornhub 2 years ago.
It was eating into the marketing potential of the homegrown whores on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

It’s disturbing how many of you are fine with that side effect
I can't speak for everyone, but I'm not fine with it. I'm also not fine handing over personal data that could be used against me when it's so easily bypassed. Laws like this are essentially virtue signalling for religious conservatives. All bark and no bite.
Boys are going to get a hold of porn, and laws like this will not stop it. Internet porn technically existed when I was the age of the boys we are talking about, but none of us had internet, and if you did, it took five minutes to download a jpeg. Mags and movies from stores were still how you got it. There were laws against us buying it, but guess what? We all got it. Everyone had a friend or a cousin or whatever that got you a dirty magazine you stored under your shoes in your closet. It's the same way now, except your friend with the hookup has been replaced by a VPN.
If you want to get serious, there are two things that we could do. 1) Educate boys about porn and the harm it does, and 2) create a system whereby your age can be confirmed without handing over your identity, e.g. some sort of ZK proof identifier.

Can we just change this from a porn law rant to a post that could identify the sites that are not complying with the laws? This is completely out of line, not to mention illegal, and we need to take action.
Of course I will need to verify those sites extensively and continue to monitor the situation should they ever comply in the future.

Utah banned Pornhub 2 years ago. My life has been sad and painful ever since. Now I look at comic books w female heroines. And I get hard as diamond.

Does r/porn still exist?

quote:I agree, and I might support such laws if I believed they were more effective at preventing minors from accessing porn than at collecting personal data for the government. Hell, even I, a guy from a generation where computer access was limited to playing games in school computer labs and with only basic computer literacy, know how to easily bypass these restrictions. Most kids today, who have grown up with computers as extensions of their bodies, know far more than I do and can bypass these restrictions before they have the lotion out.
It shouldn’t be that easy for an 11 year old to go to a website and see chicks with jizz all over their face.
Unfortunately for us self-involved adults, the only truly effective way to prevent our children from watching pornography is through active parenting.

My wife laughed at this news, at the same time she's reading some book series about humans and werewolves fricking.

HQ proner works great in AL following the ban here a while ago. Heard that from a friend of course, not personal experience

aren't there less kids smoking today? and are less kids drinking? IF so, what caused the drop? Seems like the only real way to get kids to not do something is to make it less popular or get them to shun it themselves. I don't how you make that happen, but seems like that would be more effective than banning access- which has never worked.

Access to free porn.

And kids are much smarter than their parents, they can watch through a browser like Brave/Tor or just install a VPN to get around the ban. For $5 a month they can get a paid Mullvad subscription that is fast enough to stream whatever and hides it from their parents and carrier/ISP.

A much better option would be an educational campaign to help parents learn how to talk to their kids about the dangers of porn. Nothing wrong with a good wank but having an algorithm trying to get and keep them addicted can lead to some pretty negative consequences
Wait, so you think a little extra education will help stop addictive algorithms from taking hold?

quote:this is now true for a lot of states.
Basically, you are required to prove your age/identity anytime you go to a website with any type of adult content.
quote:This is the BS that the porn sites tried to say so they could turn off access and try to have people take up their cause.
It’s too expensive and burdensome for porn sites to implement, so they simply shut it off for that State.
Louisiana was the first to pass the law and PornHub quickly identified a way to have people's age verified. As more stated have passed laws they have now taken the stance that "its too expensive" so that they can get porn users on their side. But they vastly underestimate the amount of people that will go to bat for them by saying they watch porn
