And for what, so he could pursue his sexual fantasies.
He was already doing that all the time with his wife none the wiser. His kid wasn't getting in the way of that.

I still wish they'd let that POS sit in a hot car for hours to just let him get a taste of what he did

What was in this mountain? It was all circumstantial.
Please dont say the search history. If you do I'll know you know nothing about the actual trial other than lies leaked by the cops that were initial headlines in the story.
Interesting, but not surprising.

Ah yes. You obviously know nothing about the case.
The searches were lies by the cops and not true. The "text message" could have been interpreted a number of ways. As I said circumstantial at best. He watched some hot car video, but a lot of people have since it has been such a decent sized story the last few years.

Yeah, text messages and online search history don't really tell you much about a person's intent.

The only reason he was convicted is because he was a POS sleeping with hookers and randos.
Always a worry.

How do you explain his trip to the car during lunch?
Posted on 12/5/16 at 2:59 pm to jchamil
He went and tossed light bulbs in the back after going to lunch and Home Depot with coworkers in another car. From what I recall his vehicle roof wasn't high and below eye level.

I was about to start a thread about this, glad I searched.. But I see he also is charged with sexual exploitation of children because he tried to convince a minor to text him pictures of her genitals. Is that something that came up after he left his son in the car?
Posted on 12/5/16 at 3:03 pm to OweO
Yes. Came out after when they searched his phone
Posted on 12/5/16 at 3:03 pm to OweO
yes, via warrant search of phone.

I think it turned out he was sending dick pix to underage girls while he was doing Google searches of "How long will a child survive in a hot car?"
I'm surprised they didn't go for the death penalty in this case, especially in a conservative Southern state like Georgia. Because frick this a-hole.

He was found guilty of malice (intentional) murder on almost nothing but circumstantial evidence. I was honestly surprised by the ruling.
He watched a hot car death video in the month of July. Not that out of the ordinary to me. He did not search for how hot it would get inside a car. He did send a sext on the day of the murder that mentioned needing an escape from his family and had several sexcapades and daily sexting outside his marriage. He was definitely messed up in the head, which clearly lead to his child's death. But was it intentional? I don't think that question was ever answered.
I think what put the jury over the edge were his emotions on the day of the kid's death, the interrogation, the sex addiction and the lunch time visit to the car.
I agree that conviction required a lot of faith to be placed in inferences. I do think he did it intentionally, but I agree that the case had some significant weaknesses and the jury's decision can be questioned.
Main reasons I think he did it:
1) Him going to the car at lunch
2) Him not noticing his dead child in the car until he's halfway home (not going into details of this but those who followed the story know why this is unlikely)
3) All the evidence of him being a shitty person generally

I forgot about the post-work drive. I think the jury just had a really hard time believing Claimant did not see his kid in the car...especially since they were actually allowed to view the car during trial.

He would have smelled his dead child immediately upon getting into his vehicle after work. The poor baby boy was dead for several hours by then...and we know what happens at that point. You can't tell me he didn't smell that in a scorching hot car.
So many questions but I just don't understand why he wouldn't just leave his wife and son. Tons of men do this everyday without having to murder the kid they don't want.

There's no decomp smell hours after.
I guess a diaper smell could be there.
One interesting thing....the smell wasn't mentioned by any investigator in initial reports. Only appeared a year later. It's like they needed to tell a story to fit evidence.

testimony from coroner revealed boy was likely alive at lunch time trip to car to drop off light bulbs. So, no, he wasn't dead for several hours. There was likely a heavy smell of perspiration though.

I thought I recalled one of the officers saying the smell was overpowering at/around the time of the charge?

I'd have to go look back but at least two added the smell a year after the fact
His defense attorney did very well defending him. He was just a huge pos even outside the kid in a car thing.

As a father of 2 22-month olds, I find this story so disgusting and disturbing that i'm almost nauseated.
Have fun climbing the walls for the next 50 yrs you sorry excuse for a human being. Have fun knowing the last thing your little boy saw was his daddy getting out of the car and leaving him in the backseat. And the last thought that went thru your little boys mind before he blacked out from the heart was "where is my daddy?" and "please come save me daddy." And you were nowhere to be found. You never came. And he suffered and died waiting on you.
Hope it haunts you til your last breath. The whole world thinks you're a fcking demon, bro.
You will be brutalized in prison by animals. Bad news, no one feels sorry for you. No one gives a shite about your upcoming pain and abuse. When you're not being raped, enjoy the hours of solitude, shitty food, manual labor and being surrounded by tons of dumbasses that never got out of Jr. High.
To say the rest of your life will be a living nightmare is an understatement.
Hope it was worth it.
RIP little Cooper. You deserved better.

seems like a lot of misinformation on here about certain "facts" about this case. If anyone is really interested, i just finished Season 2 of the podcast "Breakdown" which went over this case. A reporter from the area runs the podcast and did a good job of showing all the evidence, both factual and not (police saying he searched for kid in hot car death times).
After listening to the podcast, I am not sure if he did it with intent or not. Like others have said, he was cheating and doing all this stuff with his family in the picture, so what was he really gaining by murdering his son? All the women who he cheated with and testified said that he loved his son and spoke of him frequently. Hell his own wife who had no reason to be in his corner testified that he loved his son and wouldn't intently hurt him. Why wouldn't he deleted all of these messages and messenger services if this was planned out? I like to think i would never forget my kid in the car but i often arrive somewhere and can't remember if the lights i drove through were green when i went past them.
He still could have gotten life in jail because he was committing a felony while his son died (texting and asking for photos of under aged girls). The podcast talks about how this would have been felony murder and the only difference between that and malice murder is the he could potentially get life w/ parole with the felony murder.
