Not a single house on Laurel Street flooded after Katrina. Just FYI, housing prices in the "sliver by the river" are higher because they're the high ground.

Yeah, but do they love their city enough to risk a murder rate that is one of the highest in the nation and risk living in a place KNOWN to have recently experienced a major natural disaster that destroyed tens of thousands of homes and rendered over a million people homeless overnight and resulted in over half the population of the city proper being homeless for weeks if not months following? Have they personally suffered great loss and tragedy as a result of their love of city yet their love of city endures?

I would agree but exactly how much time do you give New Orleans East? I think another 40 years before that housing stock is completely worn out and is need of demolition.

For those prices you can get a much bigger home on the north shore. Better schools and neighborhoods.
