Believe it or not, they are buying those to tear down and rebuild.
The new issue is that you might not be able to tear the houses down in some areas, unless you are connected that is.

I would never be an early gentrifier.

This is late stage gentrifying I would say. Gays and starving artist started some of this in the 90's in the Marigny and some of the Bywater. Before that it was the Warehouse District in the mid 80's.

The real push came after Katrina though. I still can't believe the pricing. If it ends up getting section 8 property owners to sale and push more crap out of the area, then it's good. I just hope the working poor can still find places to live relatively close.

Oh I know. I’m just pointing out how expensive real estate uptown is. 6200 Laurel is a block away from the park.

3200 Laurel isn’t terrible either - without looking I think this is near Gen. Taylor

Yeah, it's been like that for 5+ years now. Once Airbnb started up there, the real estate market went insane because of out of state investors.

I tried buying a house in 2012. But anything I was interested in, was under contract within hours of listing.

For those prices you could get a 4000 sq foot home in North Texas with little to no crime and the best public schools in the US.

And be forced to eat nothing but brisket and tacos, no thanks!
