I had PF a couple years ago. Was hiking a lot more and doing a few of those home exercise videos(Shaun T ones) where you are doing a lot of jumping. Had PF in my left foot...was a burning pain after hiking and I was limping around every morning when I first started walking on it.

Saw a podiatrist. Wore a night splint, wore inserts the doctor gave me, did the frozen water bottle, stretches. Got one of those foot rocker things as well. That thing is awesome btw.

All of those things seemed to help. I think for me personally....what helped me the most was altering my exercises. I bike more than I hike nowadays and if I do any home videos...I modify so I'm not doing high impact (jumping around).

Don't really have any pain now. Only sometimes after a hike will I start to feel the burn in my heel. PF sucks though...very frustrating when dealing with it.

Any thoughts on severe pinching/aching pain in the area of the distal cuboid, side of the foot? What about the same pain, but more mediodorsal? Sudden onset for no apparent reason, can last a day or a week, can't bear weight on foot.

What area are you in? I've suffered from it for years. Only shoes that seem to mitigate it for me are the NB 1523s. I also have no arch. Very flat feet.

Thanks. How are people with flat feet affected?

So op can you tell me what insoles to use in my running shoes for metatarsalgia? Balls of feet burn like hell past 3 or miles. It's an issue for running half marathons.

Help! Got three different spenco inserts to try.

ETA mind sharing where you're located?? Lafayette area??

First time I've tried this towel stretch. Damn, this is pretty good. Much better than that ramp I've been using.

Broke my ankle in med school. Never regained full ROM. On my feet a lot, so I struggled with plantar fasciitis in that foot for years. Tried running shoes, arch support, orthotics, stretching, massage, ice bottle rolling, etc. No avail. Finally threw on some croc's --- no more pain after a week. No idea as to why croc's worked. Virtually no arch support. Several years and 3-4 sets of croc's later, no return of pain. It's an amazing difference.

I cured mine similarly. After trying a non-prescription arch support, lacrosse ball, etc., I switched to minimalist shoes - no support whatsoever. My feet have been free of plantar fasciitis ever since. I think modern shoes don't allow the foot to function as it was designed to function. The foot needs freedom, not support.

I’ve been suffering from this shite for 3 months now. Never heard of the towel stretch either until I read this. I’ve done it the last 3 mornings and my foot feels 10 times better than it has in months.

I'm not in the BR area. However, in BR I would recommend the Halls. They are a father and son and both work at Bone & Joint Clinic of Baton Rouge.

I've seen Christian the dad as I know some of the Halls. Shot, taped foot, night boot, head to Varsity Sports and buy one of the shoes on Hall's Wall. Wore the boot about 5-6 weeks. Been fine for 5 years. I wear the Brooks Beast and have a wide EE foot and it's a great shoe. Not cheap $160.00 but I keep two pairs and they last a couple years so not bad.had inserts made but I don't wear them since I don't wear dress shoes and work boot more than a few hours at any given time.

For the past 2 weeks, I've had shooting pain from top part of my heel (or tendon) to the bottom of my heel. It only occurs if I point my foot upward and straighten my leg out. It this Plantar Fasciitis. Or something else such as a heel spur or Achilles Tendon?

Do platair fasciitis compression socks work or is it a waste of money? I have been doing everything I can to get past it: custom inserts, nighttime brace for sleeping, doing all my stretches, RICE every night, 4 weeks of pt, etc. I’m willing to try anything to avoid surgery.

I will add, from a patient standpoint, that I battled this for years on and off until I was finally prescribed custom orthotics. The relief was almost immediate and, although the price point was painful initially, I still have the orthotics years later. I should have bought them long, long before I finally did.

This X10000000. The relief is complete and immediate. Crappy inserts off the shelf don’t work - it must be custom orthotics.

Honestly, if you are already doing all the other things then I doubt you will see any benefit from the compression socks. Have you had an MRI? That typically my next step once everything you listed has been exhausted.

Though it really is rare to have to do surgery, unfortunately for some folks it is necessary.

Have you tried a pair of Birkenstocks? This helped me tremendously. Never go barefoot.

GEAUXT have you ever tried using a laser and applying LLLT (Low Light Laser Therapy) to the area? Or have you looked into the studies? Plenty of stuff out there on PubMed. It worked wonders for me. No more pain in my arch.
