Gas prices could fall below $3 by end of summer, says AAA analyst

The price of oil has fallen around $30 over the last month, plunging even further on Tuesday as traders await the signing of a peace deal between Iran and the United States.
How long will it be before we see gas prices to pre-war levels?
"I think it's going to take us a little while for everything to work out," AAA's Don Redman said.
Still, Redman says consumers are already seeing significant price drops at the pump as oil prices plummet.
"We're definitely almost 40 cents cheaper than we were a month ago," Redman noted.
In fact, Redman says we could see gas prices continue falling over the next few months.
"There's a lot of hope that we will see those prices under $3 certainly as we get through the end of the summer."

Redman says for gas prices to fall below $3 a gallon, Washington and Tehran must maintain any peace agreement they sign. Redman adds that the Gulf must remain quiet to prevent a spike in oil and gas prices.
"As we know, late July and certainly into August into September is the season within the season," Redman said. "They're not forecasting a busy hurricane season, but all it takes is one, as we know."

filled up in east tn this past weekend for $3.28 before the news broke of the iran deal so i expect we'll be well under $3 in the south before the end of summer.

They are really going out on a limb there. It’s $3.05 in Baton Rouge right now.

People will just move on to the next thing to bitch about.
Gas prices are going down? Let's pivot to calling the working class voters white trash.

Not really.
This goes for any product. If the product on hand was purchased at a higher price, you don't just lower your prices because the future deliveries will be cheaper. You need to recoup the cost of the product you have on hand.

Then why did the gas at my local station shoot up 25 cents about a week after the bombs started dropping. Any oil price changes had not affected refined gasoline by then.

This!
From google, so...
Before the United States and Israel entered the conflict with Iran in late February 2026, the national average for regular gas was approximately $2.98 per gallon. The day after the war broke out, global crude oil prices surged dramatically, causing the U.S. national average gas price to jump to roughly $4.44 in the following days.
So now that the straight has been re-opened, they should fall just as fast....lol

So Trump promised to put us in a war with Iran with no real goals and to put us in a worse global position after we end it in a strategic defeat? Got it. Thanks for explaining The Art of the Deal for us all.
