I would 100% buy another diesel truck before I ever think about getting a CyberTruck. That being said, I’ve had a Tesla Model 3 the past 6 months and use it to get around town and have saved quite a bit by charging at home.
Also, not sure how this dude paid so much for 900 miles. I did a 550 round trip a few months ago and only spent $32 total.

Yeah there’s more to the story here. He was either towing/hauling or spent all 900 miles supercharging in Los Angeles at peak times. Nothing else makes sense.
You know I didn’t think about towing/hauling something heavy.
I guess if he had something heavy, going really fast (over 80 the whole way) and it was cold, maybe his efficiency was terrible…like 500 wh/mi terrible. If he’s paying something ridiculous like $0.35/kwh then that would be like $150ish for the trip.
But yeah, whatever he was doing wasn’t exactly “normal usage”

On our trip we found places that included charging and one of fhr cars had free supercharging for life. One thing that can skew my experience is that we knew not to fully charge at a destination charger when we had one included with our room or meal

Yeah but that 5% becomes a huge pain in the arse

reminds me of the Beverly Hillbillies episode where Jethro invented a catalytic converter

That comes out to about .50/ kWh. That doesn’t make much sense considering that’s double the average rate
Also with his math did he start a road trip with an EV that was dead and had to charge it before he left town? Lol it's probably a bot anyway, noone wastes money on a cyber truck and is stupid enough to use it for a long road trip and then posts about how stupid they are and how much money they wasted.
An actual EV owner would be like "yeahhh well it took me an extra 6 hours but at least I saved humanity" or some smug bullshite

How much money could you of saved by buying a regular truck over a Cybertruck?

These days, not much haha but at least with a normal truck u can trade it in and get some cash back in 2 or 3 years.

Manufacture a diesel/electric and call me then.

and charge at night between the hours of 12AM to 7AM when they can get a ridiculously low time-of-use electric rate.

And he doesn’t have to get an oil change after the road trip, too.
No one needs an oil change after a 1800 mile round trip. Newer trucks can easily go 7,500 - 10,000 miles on an oil change.

I'm a Tesla owner - I'd never take my Tesla on a road trip. That is why we also have a SUV. You aren't saving much money when gas prices are low 2s and supercharging rates are $0.35/kwh. They are excellent money savers for <200 mile round trips when I can charge at home which is 99.9% of my use. The 0.1% I just use the SUV.

Who the hell would need an oil change after 900 miles?

Well yeah, who doesn't know this. You van also fill up in 5 minutes and go 400 miles. The cyberpunk will take 12 hours to do that.

Pretty sure people aren’t buying Cybertrucks because they want the cheapest option

I'm coming to the conclusion that Elon never meant for Tesla to be the heart of American transportation. His goal, all along, has been to get to Mars. With an atmosphere comprised of primarily CO2, he would have to have a reliable electric vehicle available for transportation across long distances. By creating and producing Tesla EVs, he has not only convinced people to do the real-world testing for it, but he has convinced them to pay him for the privilege of doing so!
