Soon to be some marathon executive’s hunting camp.

So let’s fire all the people that work there to punish them for the evils of slavery as we continue to pollute the world.

Aren't hunting camps usually near places you know...you hunt

Damn. I got married here. That’s sad to see.

It's on the National Register of Historic Places. Owners have a maintenance obligation by law and can only avoid it by getting it delisted, or showing they cannot afford the upkeep.
Considering the wokeness...I expect they will try to get it delisted.
Or, it can "accidentally" burn down like Tezcuco did
Not directed at you.
But when will we destroy enough history that we forget about slavery?
Destroying everything will just make future generstiins believe it never really happened.
Dont believe me? There are people that believe the Holocaust didnt happen.

It looks like part of the entrance to Disney world

Beautiful fence bro. Like a halfway house for dandies.

Can they not just sell it and let someone else deal with it?
I hope they don’t let it rot away it makes me sad seeing such beautiful homes die

How sad.
It'll just rot as it's too close to refinery.
History down the drain.
It isn’t cheap but you can pay to have those homes moved to a new location
Hopefully someone does it

Reminds me of one of Greg Iles’s homes in Natchez called Edelweiss. Swiss Chalet style.

This is a pretty shitty move by marathon. It’s not a matter of cutting money from their budget as they are moving the 350k they fund to the house to the schools. They want that land to be used for production and the house is stopping that. I just don’t get why not buy a piece of land close and pay to have the house moved and be done. What is shuttering it going to do? They can’t tear it down.

I wouldn’t be so sure that such a structure wouldn’t be delisted in this day and age and this administration.

So Marathon can use our infrastructure and pollute our air but cannot acknowledge our history. Noted.

For liability reasons, Marathon refused to sell since its in the blast radius.
This is a horrible loss for our history. Its a beautiful house.
I am friends with a potential buyer that tried to move heaven and earth to save this house. He has more money than anyone I know. Marathon would not budge.
I am heartbroken since this was my favorite plantation as a child.
