Why does the OT sooo insecure about how trashy they are? Who cares?

I don't understand the trashy AF comment. Any house can be trashy AF regardless of garage orientation. Overall I prefer side-facing. But the blanket statement is ignorant AF.

E.g. That took five seconds to find: This house is for sale down the street, and while it isn't my style, it isn't trashy AF by any standard.

Carport is poor for sure.

I've got a two car side loading garage and I would much prefer a carport to the wasted space of a garage.

I have a front facing garage, so they must be trashy.

I find a lot of expensive houses in Atlanta ugly. Even the old ones like this that aren't McMansions.

Eta: this house is actually a 2006. Not old. There are better examples of nice looking front facing garages. Most are on "terrace" level like that one. That doesn't work in Louisiana due to water table.

A carport I built myself is the poorest.

I like that house but we all know that’s the extreme minority of front facing garages

I have a two-car side facing garage and a one-car carport with a roof that matches my house's roof.

My in-laws have a carport and it's classy AF. They have an old English style gravel driveway. The carport has a cedar shake roof (PITA though) and cool oak columns. They grew ivy down one side that blocks the vehicles from any view from the street.
