re: From this point on all killers should use the Alec Baldwin defense

This is not strictly a legal matter. That’s my point. I am also discussing moral culpability. This is a man, emblematic of a Progressive movement, who speaks in stern moral tones and judgement every day on his own social media and media appearances. Look at his tweets- he wants to know how it “ feels” to kill a man and thanks a guy for getting shot by Cheney. Well now he knows. He fricked around. He found out.
Legally, you legal guys can mitigate his responsibility all you want with varying degrees of expertise , but the bottom line is that he shot a woman to death, due to his and other’s carelessness, and has enormous moral responsibility . The criminal and civil is separate and complicated. Morally though- The bill for decades of recklessly abusing “ lesser” people and being a notorious bully, even of his own daughter, has now come due.

It’s got to be terribly upsetting to accidentally kill someone
Does it not bother you in the least that there were previous instances of live rounds being fired previously on this set?
Or the fact that there was a safety walkout?
While accidental, this was 100% preventable and it wasn't even hard to prevent. In fact, you have to ignore a lot of red flags to get to the point you are shooting someone.
for those coming from a firearm safety stance, what happened is shocking. In fact, the entire industry idea of "armorers" being the last line of safety defense is ridiculous.

This proves the point of everyone saying you only care because of his politics...

Normal people in every day life don't use guns within set parameters and procedures to ensure no errors prior to putting in the sole possession of the shooter. It's not a comparable situation.

Alec Baldwin, who accidentally killed his cinematographer on the set of his film “Rust,” should have never pointed a gun at another human, even if he believed it was safe, Hollywood safety experts told The Post.
And the actor is now likely to face a gantlet of legal challenges — including possible criminal charges — as both the man who pulled the trigger and as the executive producer responsible for set safety, legal experts said.
“Loaded or unloaded, a weapon never gets pointed at another human being,” Hollywood firearms consultant Bryan Carpenter of Dark Thirty Film Services told The Post.
Baldwin, 63, fired a prop gun that killed Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injured the film’s director, Joel Souza, on the “Rust” set in Santa Fe, NM, on Thursday.
For safety, all live firearms used in TV and film productions are typically aimed at a dummy point, not at equipment, cast or crew, Carpenter noted. Guns, he said, are never aimed at a person
quote:
“You never let the muzzle of a weapon cover something you don’t intend to destroy,” said Carpenter, whose New Orleans-based firm has worked on the sets of scores of TV and film productions. “All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.”
Former filmmaker and former US National Shooting Team member Peter Lake put the blame on Baldwin.
“The buck stops with Alec Baldwin on every level,” he told The Post. “It looks very bad for him. At least the captain of the Titanic had the good sense to go down with the ship.”

Why are you here?
Why are you constantly getting upset at people who think Baldwin ran a shoddy operation?
If this bothers you, you don't have to read it.

Affidavit says the shooting took place during a rehearsal. Why the hell does a gun need to be fired in a rehearsal?

I'm going to watch Baldwin use white privilege to get out of any legal trouble.
Sure, he'll settle some civil suit, using some DNC or BLM donation money, so he'll not even suffer financially.
Those who are defending him, I hope never have a loved one killed "accidentally" by someone's negligence.

Bottom line.
Baldwin fricked up.

Baldwin should be charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Nope.
quote:
New Mexico criminal attorney Erlinda Johnson, a former state and federal prosecutor, said the actor faces possible criminal liability for involuntary manslaughter.
“All the state needs to demonstrate is that he was engaged in a lawful, but dangerous act and did not act with due caution,” she said.
“That’s what the state has to prove for involuntary manslaughter, which is a fourth-degree felony with a maximum penalty of up to 18 months in prison.”
She speculated that Baldwin may argue that someone handed him the gun, “but then, well, it was incumbent upon him, since he was handling the gun, to make sure there were no rounds.”

Of COURSE I care that a Progressive Puritan member of our exalted Celebrity Ruling Class who has bludgeoned America on every media forum for decades about his alleged philosophical and political moral superiority has whacked a cinematographer. I said that clearly in the first post . It’s karmic perfection, the kind of thing you know will happen before it happens, the flat circle of Hollywood hypocrisy and all that.

It bothers me, the whole situation bothers me. I also don’t think Baldwin needs to be charged with a homicide

With all the weapons in all the movies we watch, do you honestly think these guns aren’t fired towards crew all the time?
Probably, but that's kind of like defending a drunk driver who kills someone by asking if people who think he should face consequences honestly thought there weren't people driving drunk all the time.

But he still shouldn't have pointed the gun at someone and pulled the trigger if he didn't want to kill them.
He pointed the prop at the camera so that they could get a direct on film shot of the powder and flash. It’s a camera angle I’ve seen a million times. The shot hit the person operating the camera and ricocheted to hit the director who was also right behind the camera.
Good god, some of y’all are stupid. Why on earth would an actor even consider for a split second that a movie prop may be firing live ammunition?

Expected take from you.
Amazing reading liberals defend Baldwin, a gun shooting murderer, in this case.

Because 2000 years of our Western moral code requires it? You know, brother’s keeper and all that. And then there are the actual laws of our country about negligent homicide. And the various regulations and codes governing his profession.
