That's why smart men don't get married.
Agreed.. but misery loves company .. our society is sick, and they try to get everyone to make the same mistake of willingly giving into the marriage trap .. you have to be very strong and not into ‘conforming’ if you want to be smart and stay single .. i say that as a guy who’s gone thru divorce myself, and - good health willing and the creek dont rise- wont ever make that mistake again .

Half his age plus 10.
I always heard it as half ur age plus 7.. either way, it’s the dumbest rule ever devised .. obviously an American came up with that.. b/c in most of the world, women are attracted to and date/marry older men with resources and stability , and men are attracted to and date/marry much younger women with beauty and femininity .. one example i know of is a guy in the Philippines who is 80 yrs old with a 30 yr old live in gf.. that’s an extreme example .. but i know many older retired guys in their 60s and 70s with gf’s in their 20s and 30s.. im in my 40s and my last gf was 24, so not that extreme at all for Asia .. you cant help who you fall for .
As long as - and this should go without saying but ill say it- everyone involved is LEGAL and CONSENSUAL .

My FiL left MiL for an older and uglier woman! I asked him what’s the point? I told him he was nuts!

This is why I sorta understand the guys who don’t have booming 401k’s, what’s the point if you gotta give half once it all goes south?

I think he needs to move to Florida, get a sports car, and bang every young strumpet who will give him the time of day.
And I know he is reading this right now.
Godspeed, my brotha.

What I’ve learned over the latter half of my life is that a great relationship today with a woman holds virtually no weight in insuring a great relationship tomorrow or a relationship at all for that matter. You can have everything, beautiful house, amazing kids, incredible family and she can still wake up one morning and it no longer be good enough.. Divorced single female friends in her ear telling her she can do better hold a lot of sway.

Happened to me after 20 years. We were in our 50s by then.
Get past the hurt and anger then move on and do better.

Sounds awful. What caused this? And who is at fault?

Same here, good advice just get past hurt, move on, do better and if kids involved put their best interest first. At least that is my plan.

I just hit 34 years. Not sure I would be mad.

The Lord gave Eve paradise in the Garden of Eden....and it wasn't enough.

This is common. In many causes the wife gets about 90% of what the husband has built.
Divorce laws need to be reformed.
It's a major miracle that more men have not gone scorched earth over this phenomena.

The new ladyfriend might be fun to be around. There's a lot of bitchy women that, regardless of beauty, are just a mental drain.

The Internet is evil and dangerous.
If anything good ever came out of social media, it is the lifting of the veil on marriage.
I had friends that absolutely got hammered and are still dealing with the aftermath decades later. One of the nicest guys I ever met got totally killed by a smooth operator; I am convinced it was a set up from the first date.
Young men of today can see the whole picture play out, not just see their own chase and target. They see the state enforced arse ripping that they will likely endure, and at minimum have some tools to make informed judgements and better decisions if they choose to. They can look past the social media divas and tattooed attention seekers, and are equipped to possibly identify danger.
I got married late in life and I love my wife. Had MGTOW been a 'thing' then, I would have had second thoughts. I lucked out ---cause I had no access to YouTube "wisdom", differing points of view, or discussion that is available today at the click of a mouse.

That's probably a pretty good indicator of how MiL treated him behind closed doors. Maybe he was a degenerate gambler and she nagged him about it, or maybe she made sure he lived in a failure factory
