It truly is amazing. It's as if their brains just shut down. Blocking isles, in through the out door, etc.

I usually return my carts, but if there isn't a bay nearby I'll at least anchor the cart on a curb or something. I don't ever just leave it chilling in the open. Some stores desperately need more bays though.

And some could certainly do a better job of collecting carts from the corrals.

If you're caught not returning a shopping cart, you should get six months in jail. You just waddled your arse miles in the damn store looking for Little Debbie's and Mountain Dew, but you can't move 20 more feet and return your damn cart? Inconsiderate, lazy assholes.

Another thing about store parking lots that annoys me.

People will cut through opens spots to avoid driving the extra 20-30ft to the end of the aisle. Not only dangerous but, how much time does that actually save?

I always take back my cart and think very little of those that just leave them in the middle of the parking lot. I find it to be the most basic test of character. But generally I won't say anything as long as it doesn't affect me. Well last week I walked back to the store with not only my cart but a cart I picked up along the way; it was closer than the nearest return bay. On the way back to my car I watched the person parked a few spots down from me take her cart and roll it away from her car and it came to rest right behind mine. I sprinted to my car and forcefully rolled the cart right back at her vehicle before she could back out with no regard for any damage I might inflict; I was just pissed and wasn't really thinking straight. Well it turned out to be the perfect roll as just as it was about to slam into the rear tail light one of the wheels caught and forcefully redirected the cart and ended up stopping directly behind her vehicle without touching it. It probably looked awesome to any bystander that saw it but I was just relieved to have not caused any damage.

If you want to really learn about people and how fricked up they can be, work at a grocery store for a few months. You'll learn about every type of person.

My Daughter worked at Publix for a year. Before she started, I told her that she was aboot to get a lesson, that John Q Public is a prick. She found out that people will try and take advantage of a kind nature, and that no good deed goes unpunished.

The small store by my house always has more employees then they need and some of the guys will go out anytime they see 1 cart in the lot. They'd get more of my business if they had a better produce section.

The larger store near my house won't send anyone out until a customer complains there are no more carts.

I like Publix. They hustle carts all day long, rain or shine. They also take your groceries to your car if you want. I always refuse their offer usually telling them that someone may need the help more than me. It always kind of throws them for a loop. I just don't like the idea of them being out there with me and some little old lady who was behind me has to carry their own.

That said, I am now disappointed in Publix. I heard it here a while back, but hadn't seen it myself. Well, the other day I saw the first Self Checkout aisles at a Publix. Fortunately, it isn't the one I usually go to, but I know it is coming. That's such a bummer.

You know at some point I figured I would have seen one of you returning a cart since most of us live near each other. Still waiting.

I live in the country. I let the rain take care of that. Helps my grass get as green as Eden and I don’t have to spend a few hundred dollars each year at Home Depot to do it.

But put your damn buggy back in the buggy receptacle.

People who leave their carts in the middle of the parking lot should be publicly beaten with an extension cord.

Awesome Facebook share

Yep. About every other day on FB.

That aside, the comment is FAR from accurate. There are many successful people (if you are measuring success by wealth) who are flat out pricks. So even though they are successful they aren't going to waste their precious time doing something as menial as putting a grocery cart in the designated section of the parking. That's for someone "beneath them" to do. Point being, you can be successful AND a huge a-hole with respect to things that have no bearing on your ability to succeed. Such as not putting up a grocery.

The grocery cart example is not a good measure of success. It is a good measure of thoughtfulness and respect. Selfish people...rich and poor...leave the cart out. Respectful people...rich and poor...take the time to put it a way.
