I take about two weeks off every December/January because of this, roughly the 20th-5th.

Must be nice. Have not had a day off or a vacation in the last 15 years. We are short 4 people and no one wants to work so now I’m working Saturdays now . Last person who took vacation days the owner fired his arse the day he got back from his vacation. I have over 600 PTO days, not allowed to use them , probably won ‘t be paid for them.

My company is announcing next week that starting 1/6/2025 we are full time back in the office 5 days a week

We did this last year and still have 3 Teams meetings a day. If we're in the office and a meeting is that important, let's talk face to face.

Just as dumb is allowing people in the office to call in via Teams for a face to face group meeting.

Every fricking year, December is a bullshite work month. frick trying to accomplish anything. fricking trying to resolve work emergencies. Everyone’s fricking checked out and most people are on vacation. Leaving anyone trying to act responsible with 10 pounds of shite in a 2 pound bag.

So frick it, let’s just cancel work in December. Do what Europe does with August.

I know a lot of this board is against remote work, but at the very least, I think December should be a remote month for any worker where it's possible to do so.

I know in my education job, I am still technically "on the clock" in December when the students are gone and even have to go into the office next week when 98% of the students, or however many, are home for winter break.

I think, in whatever field you're in, just having common sense during the holiday times should be the norm. I'm not saying no one does any work, but if you give a little now, your employees will remember this and do a little extra work later when you need it done.

Time to get a new job. You know employees have power right? Businesses can’t survive without them.

Sounds like you need to call OSHA. Definitely highly illegal to do that.

Same reason why on Friday afternoon that it’s pointless to do anything major. After lunch on Friday, most everyone is just waiting to go home

My favorite time of year at work. Oh, ALL OF YOU want PTO this month??? Well, I'll let owners know that we need to shut down.

If you're on the production side I feel for you.

If you're in sales go frick yourself you probably drug your feet and want production to bail you out of a situation.

Give everyone off for December, then everything you are bitching about here starts in early to mid November. Also, could you imagine an entire workforce just picking back up where they left off with 1+ months break? Might as well cancel November & January too. Then Oct & Feb... then in a few years we'll all be on UBI

I’m slammed at work right now with end of the year budget projects for industrial clients.

Same...We are also getting a lot of, "Well, we have some capital money left over, can you get this done before the end of the year" conversations all while they go on vacation for 2 weeks.

December is the time they spend the money left in the budget. Mostly bs cleaning which for me means making sure no one trips the unit. Got 2 people and a phone charger. Love December.
