This sort of fad needs to die. shite is stupid. My wife's family has 12 grandchildren, ranging from 19-8 months. One of the sisters thought it was a good idea to have matching Xmas PJs pic for grandma's.

19 year old told her to kick rocks. Now all the women are pissed

Be a man and call your father yourself and explain that.
You sound like a YUGE vagina and if you still have balls, they are definitely in your sister's coin purse

Same here. I made it a point to have a positive attitude about the holidays this year after all the crap that has gone on. Nope, it's just fricking worse.

Well, my wife’s dad just called and volunteered my house for another get together for that side of the family on Christmas Day. My wife volunteered me to cook for that too.
Well, while we are volunteering others for things, did you volunteer you FIL to buy you a new truck? Did you volunteer your wife to have her arse paddled until she learns to not volunteer you for things?

My wife used to volunteer me to tree-trim, build fences, do mechanic work, and watch the children of all of her fat, divorced, man-hater, friends. I told her to stop volunteering me and it pissed her off. It has worked out a lot better in the long run though.

You need to quash the volunteering stuff now.

no, I think the family should stop inviting themselves over and expecting him to do the cooking...

that being said, my family gets into the most arguments over the cooking

it's a lot of work, money, and effort...lot of clean up too...

3 days in a row aint no picnic

I wouldn't do it

I want to sit and do nothing

You are relying a woman's version of a conversation. It probably didn't go like that at all.

Just like every year the MIL tried to weasel her way into our house on Christmas day...this is after we go over there Christmas eve. My response was an absolute no to my wife. It'll be a no to her face if she tries to make some guilting arse comment on Christmas eve...IDGAF...this is something I don't play with. I don't have many hills I die on, but this is one

Just man up and tell them point blank to stop being selfish and quit putting everything on you. Sounds like you married into a family of leeches.

Not really. Her dad is just weird and controlling about the holidays and because of health issues, he doesn’t want anything at his house with his wife.

I feel like this is common..parents of of girls are 1. selfish as frick with time and 2. totally disregard anything sacrifice the husband might be making.

We live 30 mins from her parents and 5 hours from mine. They don't have to split shite....we see them EVERY SINGLE HOLIDAY, and yet, this woman is still gonna try to come to our home on Christmas day after seeing us the night before on Christmas eve...back the frick off and let us be for one damn day!! The shite they piled on me for Thanksgiving is honestly a whole nother rant....I'm honestly tired of these fricking people this year.

Think I would leave all the uncooked food for the meal on the kitchen counters. Print all the recipes on Christmas cards along with a note, “gone hunting. Much love & Merry Christmas”.

I would not plan on eating any leftovers, but who knows, they may actually enjoy having the family in the kitchen together and maybe, just maybe, appreciate the work it takes to put a large meal on the table.

Merry Christmas ... and good hunting.

My wife's family act like the world may end if they don't get together for every major holiday and birthday. My problem has always been that it's just assumed we're doing something with them every holiday. Before my mom passed away, she was an RN at the hospital and worked most holidays. It was always drama when she'd get a holiday off and want to spend time with us. My in-laws were understanding, but my wife would be the one to push back on it.

Agreed. Years ago, when my brother got married, his wife's family tried to dictate how I SPENT the holidays. My mom, who just goes along to get along, did whatever she was told. I had to put my foot down, and let them all know the he married into that family, not me, and we (my wife and kid) weren't jumping thru hoops anymore. That fixed things on my end. Point is, if you let people get away with making YOUR plans, they will continue to do so.

That's the thing, they have 0 competition. At points birthdays fall back to back with other shite too. Her mom's birthday is right before fathers day so that's two weekends in a row were going down there. That plus MIL and wife go shopping at least once every 2 weeks. Add that to seeing us for every single Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas eve, mothers day, fathers day and each of their fricking birthdays. That's why it burns me like hell when she has the nerve to start with her...sure would be nice to see you Christmas day shite
