From what I keep seeing on local news, max winds should be in the Ascension area around 9pm.

Giant oak branch about 2’ in diameter came down blocking the whole street in front of my house in Metairie (Cleary and the lake area) and my power lines have been on fire for the last hour, yet power is still on

You mean the cone shite is rediculous. If you were somehow depending on the cone to be 50 miles one way or the other you still have a lot to learn.

Power lines likely have reclosers. They open the circuit and attempt to close it again a number of times before opening completely.

Translation - a tree brushed the line and it turned off momentarily then turned back on.
