rds, it looks pretty much like it has been, disorganized, and appears prediction is that it starts weakening pretty quickly as it gets close to landfall. But is the speed it moves through still looking about the same? Any indication it might slow down?

Also, has track moved much? Seeing some stating it moved again slightly East on 4 am run. But not finding much to support.

Hoping slightly slower speed allows for unfavorable conditions to take more of a toll on this bitch before landfall

If we start to see dark purple clouds form once more around the center in the the next few hours it means it’s trying to get its act together one more time before landfall tonight. We need this thing sheered up before landfall then it can take its arse up north.

I’m not an expert in the slightest so bear with me, but in the last frame of that loop it appears the southern eyewall is opening.

I can only assume that’s a good thing?

Yeah, Mandeville looks to be sustained around 40 and gusts under 60 most places I see

how much do the models take into account the coastal wind shear and how much hope is there for the shear to weaken this biotch some before it slams us in Thibodaux?

On Tropical Tidbits the plane just got 972 during a center fix so it isn't weakening yet.

In terms of hurricanes, what does “deepening” mean? Drop in pressure?

Edit “ When a hurricane deepens, it means that the central pressure of the storm's surface low pressure system is decreasing, which indicates that the storm is intensifying”

Thus wind shear and dry air needs to keep doing work.

What makes me nervous is the memory of Hurricane Michael. Not to insinuate this thing could compare with that storm strength wise put perhaps situationally.

Forecasters often say they are much better forecasting track than they are intensity and that was certainly the case with Michael. I recall shear was forecasted to affect it, and we all know how that turned out.

Do not let your guard down, prepare as though this will not weaken. Better safe than sorry, because that barometer is still falling,

So here in Baton Rouge, wake up this morning and looks as if it has shifted again east which would put us on the not to bad side of it. Which just fricks NOLA over correct?

Yep the dry air over Texas is there but she’s fighting it off so far. Hopefully the dry air can get inside quickly to suppress her.
