I hate this illustration. Apparently only the residents of this state understand that most of it is a swamp/marsh and always has been. It's not "land loss".

Land loss is hyperbole. However, the logging of cypress trees certainly impacted the land's ability to handle a heavy influx of water and high winds.

They consider the Atchafalaya basin as land loss when it’s actually one of the few spots in the entire country where land is growing.

So you want teachers, staff and admin to not have the same option to evacuate so your kid can get an extra day of school? Hurricane days are already built in. Your kid isn't being robbed mandated days of education.

Sure seems like that mandatory evacuation order for Cameron was overkill

HRRR valid at 11AM CDT Wednesday. Gives an idea what the radar might look like around that time.

Will flights out of BTR tomorrow morning be affected? I have a 6a flight for a bachelor party. Trying to decide if I should drive.

Flying out in the AM a well. According to most likely time of wind gusts per NWS as of now, should be fine but time will tell

Probably more for storm surge than anything else… once Highway 27 floods over just north of Kelso bridge, you’re screwed.

I love how the entirety of Lake Pontchartrain, along with any other number of inland waterways and wetlands, were all "traditionally" completely non-existent.

Nola fricked. I don’t think I’ve seen one hit the city from the west like this. Not sure how bad it should get.

IF this was a monster storm, is this the worst possible path and angle for BR folks?

I would think somewhere in between Lafayette and BR would be the worst path.

I recall this being the case during Gustav. And I also recall being without power for 2 weeks and spending a miserable 2 days picking up tree limbs with the family in sweltering heat and humidity. So in my experience, your answer is correct.
