Are they paying for your move and relocation expenses? If not, not a chance in hell

Legend has it, the town was named after this guy:

I live in South Bend. Fort Wayne isn't that bad. The winters are a little adjustment from living down South, but they aren'tthat severe, relatively speaking. Fort Wayne does not get any lake effect snow like we get here in South Bend, so it's not nearly as bad. You'll get snow, but not like 50 miles north west does. Lake effect is a bitch. I'll get 20 inches and a mile away they only get 3.
The city itself is pretty pleasant. Second largest city in Indina behind Indianapolis. There are a few smaller universities there, some nice rivers areas downtown, etc. There are dramatically worse places to settle down and raise a family.

I wouldn't relocate for a lateral move my dude. Not unless there's way more promotion opportunities up there.

Ft Wayne has a d1 basketball team.
Indiana loves hoops
Ft wayne had an nba team the pistons, when i first started watching nba.
They had a Studebaker plant.
When studebaker packard stopped making cars in ft Wayne. the nba team, still the pistons. went to Detroit.
Yes its cold compared to south alabama but the part to note is its down wind from the lakes. Snows a lot.
Later than you'd think.
I have had to stop typing twice to laugh.
I lived through all that.
My gf and i standing on a windy train platform in Evanston illinois in minus 3 with a blinding snowstorm happening. She says, its not supposed to snow when its this cold.
Ha! Sez i.
The lake isnt frozen yet.
That wind just came over 60 miles of open water.
And come spring, when most people are dressed for easter, it will dump 5 or 8 inches. Not a record.
I was nearly sent to an office around minneapolis.
I.looked it up. They had a 28 inch snow in.sept.
Long underwear. Gods gift.

I think there are a ton of underrated and pleasant places in the midwest/rust belt. There's typically good education, good health care and increasingly better jobs. The winters can be harsh but the worst is maybe 2 months and it's not bad once you adjust. There's a lot of fun and good no matter where you go, you just may have to seek it out.
With all that being said, Ft Wayne is not a place I'd want to live

Honestly this is pretty mild by the standards the poli boarders had for Obama.

I live in north central Indiana, moved up here about a decade ago. Some winters aren’t that bad while other winters suck. Last winter wasn’t bad except for the polar vortex that came through and we were at -20 for two days. All that being said, I would take the cold over the Louisiana heat any day.
Fort Wayne is a good mid sized city, nothing flashy but safe, low state income taxes (3.2%) and you are only a few hours away from really pretty spots in Michigan.

My niece and her husband live there and both are LSU grads and huge fans. They said they could start an LSU fan group.

I live 40 minutes from Ft. Wayne and actually, it is not a bad town. They have a A Farm team called the Fort Wayne Tincaps, which is the farm club for the Padres. Now, this does not hold a candle to many cities in Florida, but the city is about 270,000.

midwestern winters really aren't as bad as people on here make them out to be. especially if you actually try to enjoy it with skiiing, snowmobiling, etc.
