Red Foley played his last concert there. He died at his hotel later that night. Hank Jr wrote a song about it LINK

What does the fiancee think? I've been to Fort Wayne for work a few times. It kind of reminded me of a lot of other mid sized cities in the Midwest.

Probably wouldn't be a bad place to raise a family. Not the most exciting place if you were 24 and single. It was pretty damn cold and dreary in February when I was up there. I don't really mind the cold that much though.

Like the poster above me mentioned, it kind of reminded me of Dayton or Akron.

It's a solid little city. Crime is low. Economy is healthy - it's a big manufacturing and pharmaceutical/biosciences town. Schools are good. Cost of living is relatively low. Not a ton to do, but it's a nice place to live.

Good place to raise a family but not sure I'd want to move there when single or young. It is much, much better than a lot of peer Midwestern cities (places like Youngstown or Peoria or wherever), but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit there, if that makes sense.

I think I'd be more worried about working at a place that transfers its employees to Ft Wayne than actually moving to Ft Wayne.

Red apparently wasn't too thrilled about country singers covering "race" records

The job itself is in Waterloo. But I’d more than likely be living in ft. Wayne.

I think of Indiana as the Alabama of the midwest.

I overnight there for work on a regular basis. It’s not bad. I like staying there. Downtown is clean, and in the process of being revitalized/updated, etc. Not sure what fun stuff there is to do overall but it’s in a decent location with multiple big cities within driving distance.
So like yer sayin it ain't no SF or L.A.? Not even like a Seattle, Portland, or even N.O. with homeless living everywhere on the streets? Now how's a fella to git his windshield "washed" if there ain't no bums, winos, addicts, or carjackers wandering aimlessly in the intersections accosting people randomly?

I tells ya, life just ain't the same once ya wander off from civilization.

How much is the bonus?

Enough to make it worth it after you have to pay for moving expenses?

The bonus is $10,000 if I move by next August. $15,000 if I move by next March.

Plus moving expenses up to $15,000.
