Complaining about new jobs coming in.
Why Louisiana will always be a craphole.

Glad to see something positive going on in my home state. Seems rare these days.

They sure do. I bet they make more money than 90% of this board. It still doesn't make them a stand up member of society.
When people generalize plant operators on this board it’s usually as a joke. You sir, are just a jealous douche bag

Legit question: anyone know who got the engineering, procurement or construction?

Most likely will be chopped up by Chinese EPCs like they did in Point Comfort.

Formosa is the cheapest and most irritating people to deal with in the area hands down.
Last time a large facility was built in the area, Nucor, and they said they had all these jobs it was going to create, i'd say the overwhelming majority of those jobs weren't created for local people, since a lot of the work was handled by out of town contractors, and most of the Nucor employees came from other Nucor sites.
There's my negative Nancy take on this.

Who would be the local contractors who would work out there? There's not as many industrial companies based here as you think, Performance, Turner, Bernuchaux, Cajun, Trade. There is only so much work to go around and when you're talking about bids in the billions, the company isn't going to care where you're from.

The contract is for EPFC, meaning unless one of those contractors you mentioned does everything, its not going to be them. We are in contention for being awarded the project and most likely we would sub out certain scope to ones you listed. We like to self perform everything but theres been cases where we sub out everything anchor bolts down. A lot of times, the Owner will have requirements of using a certain amount of local hire or preferred contractors that usually have maintenance contracts.

Most of those "plant baw idiots" make more money than you, I'd bet.
With them saying an average salary of $84k, what type of position at these plants is making that $80k and up?

Damn near everyone who is a company employee and not a contractor.

Well if you would support the road tax that has been shot down in Ascension maybe this wouldn’t be so bad.
People thinking this is bad have no clue how this works. If it went to Texas the same people would be bitching about that.
