Former Hahnville High teacher-coach accused of indecent behavior with juvenile student

LULING, La. (WVUE) - A former Hahnville High School teacher and coach was arrested Monday (Dec. 8) on accusations of inappropriate behavior with at least one underage student, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
The agency said 30-year-old Devin Candies was booked with one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile. If charged and convicted of the alleged offense, Candies would face up to seven years in state prison.
That administrator had forwarded an anonymous email outlining allegations of inappropriate behavior between Candies and two juvenile students. The email included purported screen shots of social media chat messages between Candies and the students.
“Sufficient evidence was established for investigators to obtain an arrest warrant” for Candies on the single count of indecent behavior, Sheriff Greg Champagne’s office said.
