I have a 2024 Suburban, 5.3l 19,000 miles and no trouble. Recent trip, got 600 miles on tank of gas. We have owned both, Wife like the expedition as well, still no troubles with that one either.

I felt like it had very little power.
A Ford Expedition comes with a twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost V6. The GVWR is 7,450 lbs - it's completely ridiculous that Ford doesn't offer a V8. The 5.0 Coyote would be a great engine for the Expedition.

I have a 2018 Tahoe that’s about to hit 130k miles and no major issues so far. Small things like a new battery and brake pads but engine and transmission solid so far (I’d imagine I’ll need a new one in next 1-2 years). It’s been a great car for us and we take it on two 20 hour round trips a year and many 2/4 hour trips in between.
I assume you are looking at newer models though. Personally, I can’t stand the ford SUV interior or steering wheel. Just feels off to me and looks even worse. I’d also prefer a 5.3 v8 or minimax diesel over the eco boost in the ford. Does ford put the 5.0 in the SUV’s? That would be my pick if I had to go ford. As others have said they both have the same transmission
Minivan is also a great option here. My sister has a Honda van and loves it. So much room. Hell, I told my wife if we had a lot of kids (like 4-6) id get one of those older sprinter vans with the big plush turn around seats

The eco boost produces the same hp and 90 ft lb more torque that the coyote. And does it at a peak at a lower rpm than the coyote.
The 2.7 eco boost should actually be an option for the expedition for people not planning on towing a lot.

Don't sleep on the Nissan armada. If you are looking for slightly used... that 5.6 v8 they had was a strong and dang reliable engine. We have one and have not had any major problems at all from it and it's about to hit 260,000 miles. Entire power train has been absolutely rock solid. The 5.6 is a little thirsty though.
Also, for rhe new, I haven't heard of any problems so far with their 6 cyl turbo setup like that everyone else has had, including Toyota.

we had oil leaks when we used to have the qx56 in the mid 100's. This was years ago, believe it was an '08.

The aversion to the minivan in the South is bizarre to me. It’s a complete vanity thing.
It’s the strangest thing. A woman will throw a fit about driving a minivan. But she’ll happily drive a fricking Pilot or CRV etc. Less useful versions of minivans. But women are judgmental so maybe they actually are impressed when they see an Explorer

Look at Wagoneer L’s while you’re at it. The Fords are great but have about a foot less linear trunk space compared to the Suburban and Wagoneer L.

The seal in front of the oil cooler leaks sometimes. But it is a 10 minute fix when the oil is being changed. When the oil filter is removed. Can very easily pull down the cooler and replace the o-ring.
But that was on all the V6 and V8 Nissan and infinity vehicles. I had two at once and when I changed it from regular to synthetic oil, it leaked on both. Replaced the oring and it stopped leaking and hasn't since.

Yeah...no. Not doing a car. Need a family hauler.
That includes minivans.
But our inner a-hole wants the full sized suv.

Stellantis (dodge/chrysler/jeep/ram) is one of the worst manufacturers.
100k for a jeep wagoneer? foolhardy.

I love the expedition so far. We drove the platinum for a few days but settled on the active. Couldn’t make myself pay that much more for the difference in options. The active I guess is considered the bottom of the trim levels for the expedition but had everything and more than the suburban has.
We just went through this exercise having our third kid in November. Test drove everything and went in with open mind. Wife liked driving the Expedition Max the most. Handled and accelerated better. Great camera tech. To the point above, the best thing is their base model (Active) still has all the bells and whistles you want with three kids in car seats, without spending $10-20K more for trim upgrades to get what you want in a GM SUV. We've been pretty happy with it so far. Great for road trips and storage space in the back.

Starting in ‘25, Armadas have the twin turbo 3.5 V6. Before that they had the naturally aspirated 5.6 V8, a low mileage ‘24 might be the play if you had to have an Armada.
All Armadas since ‘16 have been built in Fukuoka, Japan. So that’s a plus.

They also say the Ram 1500 is best in class in dependability. I take JD Power with a grain of salt.
