I wonder what Ford is going to do with their giant battery plants that they've built in TN and KY. The one in KY is an ungodly eyesore in what USED to be beautiful farmland near Glendale.

BlackRock had to try to "force (ESG)behaviors" though.

Ray Charles could have seen that these wouldn't be popular with baws
97 mile tow range is flat out horrible, even with that I see quite a few of them in my neighborhood but I am attributing that to Ford giving some deep discounts on them.

I thought they already scrapped it?

Can't say I'm sorry to hear the Lightning may be going by the wayside. I do enjoy the great mileage I get from having a Powerboost hybrid engine in an F-150, but I have no desire to have a vehicle that requires charging from a separate power source to run.

I can honestly say I cannot recall ever seeing one up close.

They should, as should all of them. Make a hybrid instead like Toyota.

And Beshear gave them massive tax breaks and they only opened one and will likely close it soon.

I think the real problem there is Tesla wasn't at those EV car meetings. That regime thinks the greater percentage of folks bought a Tesla because there wasn't a big 3 option available. They don't realize that Tesla has support and updates and is the better mouse trap in the EV world. Especially if you want to go somewhere other than around town.

No one wants a truck that can't tow more than 80 miles.
This is the primary reason I'll never own an electric car.

They're not bad looking. They just aren't practical. As many have noted, the range is terrible, they can't tow serious weight any distance for any extended period of time.
You know what's a nice, subtlety about my gas vehicle? I can take a road trip without the consideration of planning where I refuel and the time it takes to do such.
They don't have the infrastructure for EV's and all this went into overdrive because politicians sunk tons of their own personal money into EV tech to drive stock prices and forced it on the populace. Nobody was carrying pitch forks and torches for EV technology, but you could have fooled me with the way it was all shoved on us the last four years.
Yeah, be still my beating heart for an electric muscle car. Dodge really bought into the hype and they aren't even making them anymore.

In Ford’s defense, who could have guessed there isn’t any demand for a pickup truck with less than 250 miles range?
Plus when you add something to tow that range could drop to under a hundred miles. Good luck towing a boat to Grand Isle or Venice and getting back with enough range since there are probably no EV chargers on the island or in Venice.

The square body lightning was a hot truck back in the day. That and the 454ss I had posters of.
