That's because he got trophies as a kid finishing 4th in a 4 team League.

They need to start heavily recruiting high school kids as alternative to college.

So an entry level mechanic should be able to afford 2 new vehicles? When has that ever been the case?

Maybe the Ford CEO should contribute by taking a paycut. He makes $25 M a year
What kind of socialist shite is this? Why should he take a paycut? Increase the starting salary, sure. But his compensation is irrelevant to this issue.

There are no trade school instructors. They don't want to mess with these kids of today.
We are in a very bad situation.

I can’t believe a CEO would lie and blame others instead of themselves for cutting staff and offshoring jobs. It is always someone else’s fault.
This really is all it boils down to. Ford leadership has failed to pay its employees enough to retain them.
Now its up to the CEO to figure out how to excuse the poor service and long wait times at their dealerships. So he blames the American worker and comes up with some bullshite number of $120k to try and prove his fake point. Gullible people won't question it and unfortunately some of those people will be parents who tell their sons they should go be mechanics at ford that make 120k/ year.
The media just plays along.

I worked at a place that trained welders and fitters. Work as helper for 6-8 months and then go to welding school. We turned out some good hands that way. The bad side is we didnt pay that well so they would work there as a welder for a few years and then take off for the plants.

At this point, young people should just look at what everyone tells them to do and do the opposite of that thing.
The key is to find a niche that isn't being filled and to fill that niche.

I interact with plant workers in all areas of industry on a weekly basis trying to train them in pretty simple concepts, operations, engineers and maintenance.
You would be shocked how hopelessly stupid, lazy, just dont care or unwilling to learn the workplace is. They dont give a frick and some that do are too stupid to make a difference. Many of the engineers dont understand basic physics. I.E. an example from a week ago thought a gas could flow from an area of lower pressure to higher pressure. Most are completely unorganized, its an all day shite show every day.

Maybe Ford can start a trade school and get certified by the US dept of education.
Start a program where you train high schoolers/ recent grads to be mechanics/ other trades and retain them as mechanics when they graduate.
“Ford School of Mechanics” .
Surely they have one.
Mercedes uses a training facility at Shelton to train mechanics for their Tuscaloosa facility.

Also, this part is a lie. Unless he's including about $50k in payments for employee health insurance.

Local Ford dealer shop rate is $150/hr 6-months ago. What’s the mechanics cut? $35-40/hr?
$20-$25/hour is the average

It is a lie. There has been a lot of lying by CEOs about the pay of blue collar work and demand over the last few years.
They are desperate for an oversupply of blue collar workers again so they can cut pay. After decades of telling young people they MUST go to college to succeed, they are now changing their tone

These big corporations make these claims all the time. They post help wanted ads and after a while they claim they can’t fill positions. Then they lobby government to let them hire foreigners for 30 cents per hour.
Ford can’t find mechanics? Where are the trade schools they set up? Obviously, they want mechanics to work on Fords. This ain’t rocket science. 6 months of training they will have a pipeline of Ford mechanics.

$120k/year is not great money anymore. Biggest problems I see on the executive level. Guys are blinded by a good income for mid level employees.
Posted on 11/15/25 at 4:01 pm to CSinLC
Then pay them more to fill the jobs.

bullshite
Maybe Jim Farley should bust out some SNL schtick while reciting these platitudes to make them more palatable. Fat man in a little coat….. or perhaps Matt Foley motivational speaker…hey kids if you go to college you'll end up living in a van down by the river.
