The dealerships will have to find margin in the service side of the business .

Except EV’s require very little service.

Even under the current model, dealers are in for a future of pain. Something like 50 percent of their service income is from scheduled maintenance, which EV’s require almost zero.

I'm for it. I've always said this is how cars should be sold. This bullshite hassle and shopping around is fricking nonsense. Why do car dealerships need to exist? I can understand used lots, but as far as new models go why wouldn't these manufacturers just set up their own sales shops? Or have them delivered from a central housing facility upon online purchase. Just have show rooms for test driving.

Thinking like this will kill the US economy. We need fat. We need overhead. Fat and overhead = jobs.

Of all the things to try and protect, the car dealership model isn't one of them. They provide no value to the consumer whatsoever.

So he gonna cut out the dealership and pass the savings on to consumers?

Sure he is.
Just like when Classe decided to start making their gear in China instead of Canada. No one wants to spend $40k on mono blocks made with generic garbage parts from China. But their prices didn’t go down.
At least now they’re being made in Japan.

Because they can mark the units sold as soon as they go to the dealer and they become their problem. also, they can finance them to the dealer's floor plan. The he can force dealer to take the dogs as well if they want the hot models.

I have a ford and love it. And yes it’s absurd you can order a vehicle through the manufacturer but the dealer can the ask what ever the frick they want for the vehicle. This is where you got dealerships marking up $5k-20k on their vehicles.

Sounds like a good idea to me. They are selling them faster than they can make them. Why do you need a dealer?

Tesla has the worse customer satisfaction ratings in the industry. One reason there is no independent dealer network with skin in the game.

Apparently you don't remember or were not alive in the early 2000's where auto makers bought up huge lots of dealerships and fricking failed at selling their own fricking vehicles? Competition between dealers keep the prices down you idiot.

No he won’t.

They will do well all the same.

Look at CarMax or Disney. They charge a set fee and people gladly pay for it.

All the dealerships could do this and easily get away with it
