And who will do warranty and service work?

Let me get this straight…
Remove a layer in value chain (cost and margin sharing)
And remove price risk in doing so
Kill company? Or lift it to new heights?

I’m guessing the mechanics.

My guess is that service will cost way more. Dealerships will simply become service centers. The dealerships will have to find margin in the service side of the business .

Either the 44 year old twice divorced or 23 year old straight out of college with a general studies degree salesmen.
Same as now, duh.

They already operate as separate entities with separate P&L's

Well, if we’re going down the path of no dealer, then there’s some margin back to the manufacturer.

That is all the dealer gets to do is turn wrenches. No sales.

Except the advertising and destination charges add 2 grand to every vehicle. He is going to have to compete with Tesla. And sometime go out and look at higher end F 150s. A DFW dealer was adding 40 grand to the Raptors and at least ten grand to many other F 150s. The dealers are going to have to fall in line. If we have a recession and Ford can't move vehicles, they will discount them. Let's see how Chrysler and GM handle this.

I posted this as the potential future for automobile sales. Less acreage to buy and maintain. Continue with the maintenance department.
People have been doing this type of automobile shopping since covid.
I also think it was ford that sent dealerships a letter telling them to knock it off with the over MSRP pricing.
Not saying I like it just seems in the cards at this moment.
Unlike Tesla I would hope it doesn't include only select regional sales and an order is picked up 4 hours away. Even to evaluate cars for purchase.

Yeah. Not sure what the problem is here

This is a valid question. Ford will still have to offer warranty, service, and parts offerings on their vehicles. I’d guess the current Ford dealership network will morph into having the primary role of service centers. Will these remain as independently owned “dealerships” or will the eventually be bought out and taken over by Ford itself? I suppose that depends on whether or not whatever form these dealerships assume proves profitable enough for the dealer principles to remain in the business.

Wrong. You actually think they’re going to pass that savings to the consumer. That’s what they’re telling you. In reality they’ll just keep oroces the same and take the money dealers were making.
