This is the same guy that spends three hours in the bathroom and roams the cube farm talking about football and shite he does on the weekend.

To answer the question, I’ve been 100% WFH since 2018. No change in productivity (actually slightly better based on my annual reviews). Like others have said, it’s just a discipline thing. Some people are good with being on the office but if you really want to make it work you can.

It's not as cut and dried as saying you work 8 hours per day when the reality is you are often tethered all day.

When your office is wherever you are, you may find yourself working at any hour. I am waaaaaaay more efficient working without people dropping in or having bullshite meetings. That being said, I also have the luxury of working earlier than other people do, or working after the kids are in bed. This means I can afford to pick my kids up from school, or do things I personally need to do during the day if needed. I am comfortable having "netflix" on one screen while having excel and powerpoint on other screens... I couldn't do this in the office, and I'd get bored quickly.

I had a teams meeting sitting in a parking lot a few minutes ago with one of our customers. I don't understand why I need to be in an office to do that.

I work more from home than at the office. Something about being home with the computer/desk right there that you end up gravitating toward it at times when nothing else is going on.

In the office, it’s nothing but meetings and distractions and BS. I enjoy the social aspect of it and “team building” with my department, but it’s actually very unproductive.

I think some people are misled by their immediate COVID experience. The whole world shut down, so the volume of work out there was much lower. I probably only worked 2-3 hours per day back then. Now it’s easy 9-10+.

Me and a co-worker get to take turns going into the office. We've agreed that the person at the office takes as much of the load as possible.

So I work about 10-20% of my day when I'm at home.

Without other context, it seems he's still getting his work done, good for him.

I don't know the # of hours, but it's definitely not any different than the # of hours I put in while in the office. Either way, I never have anyone micromanaging me as I'd never work at a place that does that.

It's probably like 4 hours or so, but I have every task/email needed to be completed done by the end of every day just about on a dail basis. I've even asked for more work/clients, but even though I've only been at this job for 4 months, I've been told I already have the most clients and they simply don't feel comfortabl giving me more, so that works for me

I'm actually more productive at home because I want to wrap everything up for the day, so I can go do something fun, work around the house, or just hang out while replying to emails/calls as they come in

I usually start around 9 and wrap up with everything around 1-2 most days

The same amount of time that I spent working while I was in the office.

I have TV in the background most of the day, but I'm not paying very close attention to it.

I give 120% effort for about 66% of a normal work day. Varying levels of effort the rest of the time. I also idle at about 10% every minute I'm awake.

I actually work more because I'm not sitting in traffic and since I can get work done on my phone and with wi-fi I spend more time with customers. Sales. Going into an office is 1960s Mad Med bullshite.

Probably about the same as when I was in the office honestly. I’m able to start working earlier with no need to commute or get corporate-casual look on. I also don’t have coworker pop-in interruptions, etc.

Yet I feel like I have so much more freedom. Sometimes I do housework or run errands while I’m on low-involvement zoom calls.

Honestly, last company it was balls to the wall all the time.

Current company not real sure what they want me to do. Been here 6 weeks and nobody seems to be in any hurry.

They ask me for recommendations about once a week based on my experience and expertise...

I keep thinking "Yeah, cut my job and about 40% of the others. You can do this work with about half the amount of people."

But I kind of been told in no certain terms the culture here is to "coast" and not overwork anybody. Lots of people been here 10+ years.

Most of the folks I know who work from home, I know them and they are absolutely less efficient with no supervision.

I was not as efficient at home mostly because there is reference material that is helpful to what I do at the office that now way I could have all at my house and there is a interaction between me some co-workers that just sometimes can't be done over the phone or on line - things need to be seen - some hands on items, etc.

I could go on but I'm sure there are mostly data driven jobs where if a person were responsible, the could be as efficient are more efficient from home due to less horseplay and interruptions. Responsible being the very key word.

Sometimes I am completely slammed and I’m working during off hours.

Other times, I don’t get a project for a week.

Double edged sword. In some areas I work more now because it's so easy to run upstairs to my office, especially on the weekend.
