if I can get an item online for 5 dollars more than having to go to a store and dealing with "people" then I will gladly pay the extra 5.
the general public are full of entitled assholes, and I would rather not deal with it.
the older i get - the less inclined I am to wanting to deal with people - especially in a retail environment

It depends and most clothing stores will honor the online discount in store

I hear you can get paper leaf bags at Home Depot for free.

EXACTLY!!!
Here in West Texas it's a million times worse than back home in South Louisiana.
no matter what time you go to the grocery store it is packed to the gills.
people in parking lot don't even try to walk anywhere other than right down middle of the road.
people pushing buggies don't bother to let you pass while they congregate in the aisle.
I'd much rather pay a little bit extra to completely avoid that shite.
Have it all brought to my house or office and then use my time off doing literally anything other than dealing with people.

When looking at making purchases in a store, generally a big ticket item, I usually have a device in my pocket that I can use to comparison shop. My 80 yr old father-in-law calls it my computer, I call it a phone. I look up the item and see if it is cheaper online. If so, I'll ask the store clerk to price match or I'll just buy it online. Technology makes things very easy.

This 100% depends on the specific item you are shopping for.
No shite. I guess you missed the part where I said "Often" not "always"

"It looked bigger in the photos online" something a woman would say.

Accounting for fuel costs alone generally offsets any prices increases for delivery... adding in having to deal with stupid people (or people in general) and delivery is well worth it.

fuel costs is a very large reason to shop on line. Timespent in searching for a store with the right part is another.
groceries need to be in person, instore. too many items .

I’ll never buy meat, produce, or dairy online and have it delivered. Just can’t bring myself to let someone else pick out shite that expires for me.
But dry goods you might come out better buying online if it’s in bulk.
Clothes you’ll usually pay more in the store. All good promo codes are online and it likely hasn’t been tried on. I haven’t bought clothes from a brick & mortar store in a long time.

I don’t think anyone shops online because they think it’s cheaper.

I spend less shopping online. Impulse buys are greatly reduced.

Sometimes the Cost Benefit Analysis says otherwise.
Posted on 3/13/25 at 11:24 am to sidewalkside
That's cool, I don't like in person shopping so am willing to pay a higher price for my convenience.
Posted on 3/13/25 at 11:24 am to sidewalkside
I don't think that's true at all
nonfood items at walmart & kroger are more expensive than amazon or online retailers.
Headset cost me $200 at best buy, was 150 on Amazon

I guess if you're too lazy to get up and go outside very once in a while you should assume you're going to pay more than you need to...but you know...convenience.
So much easier to shop multiple stores and find exactly what I need or want by shopping online. Plus not dealing with inconsiderate drivers!

Exactly.
I'd rather spend my time doing what I want to do.

I get a lot of groceries delivered from Walmart. I buy fruit and veggies at a F&V stand. Bringing 47 items to my house, for $3 more than I would pay in store, then just tipping the driver whatever the suggested tip is.
What a bargain.
