I didn't see any hotels in that immediate area on Mapquest. If they were going to the Wyndham or Westin, then anybody with any sense would have walked down to well-lit and busy Canal St then to the hotel. Those guys are from the Boston area and should be familiar with crime and how to be safe.

I hate thinking like this. I'm guessing they somehow wound up walking through Woldenberg Park (there are any number of situations where someone not familiar with the area can be coming from a certain direction - Cafe Du Monde area, Convention Center/Riverwalk area, casino, etc., and get funneled into there as a good route to get where you're going), and saw the opening at Bienville as a way to get back to wherever they were going.

This is BS. You can't blame someone for being ignorant that is only 3-4 blocks away from one of your cities busiest streets.

Girlfriend and I drove down there Friday after lunch. Stayed until 4:00 on Sunday. We stayed at the Mazarin Hotel.

Spent the entire weekend there and had absolutely zero problems. Nothing but hospitality and smiles everywhere we went.

We had a blast.

Means nothing. Track real estate sales and compare sale prices/volume.

Go compare the crime rates in Boston and New Orleans. I'll wait.

Only when the tourist dollars evaporate will politicians be forced to face harsh realities.
No then they will raise taxes (again), cut essential services (more), and auction off more statues and other objects of art and historic value. And crime and the sociopaths will march on.

My son turned 1 today and was running fever. Took him to the clinic and he tested positive for malaria on his first birthday. He thinks all of you are pusisies.

The point is anybody could've been walking in that particular spot. It's between 2 of the biggest parking lots in the quarter. There's also parking back along Woldenberg Park.

Trust me I used to live a few blocks from there and have parked on that exact street and have walked down that street at night plenty of nights after parking. Plenty of people do. It's by no means an area to "avoid".

I just clicked this thread and don't feel like going back to read, but why are you in here taking about Boston yet again today?

Well, the guy I responded to said the guys who were attacked (who were from Boston) should have known better because they live in Boston.

Is that relevant enough?

Sadly I'm not kidding. Execs from Mandeville, Bay St. Louis, Metairie, and person flying in from Dallas all asked that the location be moved so it was moved to Lakeway Plaza.

I love how y'all act like I was the one to bring it up.

Guy makes an asinine statement and I point out why.

Sorry I've distracted you from explaining why New Orleans is such a great place. Proceed.

ETA: how was your trip to Boston that you emailed asking me for advice on? I'm assuming you didn't get attacked from behind and robbed.

Scruffy was discussing going there with his SO and her sister at the end of next month.

Heavily debating that right now. Might try another destination.
