The thing about “ not marrying a psycho “ is that a person might change a lot over a decade or two or three of marriage. Sometimes the CRAZY comes on over time . Either you or her . People unravel all the time.

Did Michael Jordan married a psycho? Tiger woods? Greg norman? Sometimes people just change over time so being crazy got nothing to do with it.

Part of the theory of child support is so that your child doesn't live in poverty with one parent. I get that the Child Support Guidelines Louisiana uses are absolute shite, but if he's paying $1000 a month, he's probably making decent money or has several kids with her.
I completely understand the concept of child support, and yes, he makes good money (one child is his, the ex has other children from new man).
But the ex-wife could give their child 4th-generation hand down clothes and feed her beans and rice.
The ex wifes / baby mama should have to provide some sort of accounting to him of how she spent the money, IMHO

My buddy's ex wife became a millionaire after they divorced. She still busted his balls for that $850 per month of child support though.

Just curious, but when you married her was she exactly the same way she is now or did she magically change overnight???

Just don’t get married, break up when you want. Make sure you know your laws for “common law” and you’ll never get screwed!!

Finally, a plus for being gay. We both have expendable income, no kids, etc. Plus, neither one of us are vindictive women.

Called menopause-usually happens in their 40's, maybe early 50's. Men beware, it's the devil incarnate. You will not know the woman you married for at least a year or maybe ever again. Happens w/ the quickness! Her head may just spin all the way around before your eyes.

In 1970, my father was ordered to pay $200 per month child support. He later “nicely” increased it to $250 per month —not sure how old I was when he did but it stayed $250 until I was 18.
That didn’t come close to being what he should have paid by my mother refused to deal with him. He was a lawyer and CPA and did quite well.
Thank goodness my step father (my daddy) loved me like his own and willingly did what a “father” should do without ever saying a word about it or about me not being “his”.
Some people are just assholes. I went to dinner with my real father at dinner one time when I was in college and the meal was equivalent to that $250. Yes now as an adult and parent, I get pissed when I think about it.

The first time I saw a set of tits in a movie at about 9-10 yrs old I knew that I wanted to see a lot more of them. Half of my shite could be the cost

Big change, I asked her to see her doc (female), the doc knew what was going on and gave her meds to help her thru menopause, but she stopped taking meds after about 2 months and refused to go see her doc again. Complete off the rails change.

Hit enter too quick,
Louisiana does provide for the accounting of child support. I've never seen it done before, but take a look at Revised Statute 9:312. If he's got good cause to ask for it, she'd have to provide an accounting. There are penalties for frivolous filings, etc.

Or they might just hide who they really are until they know they have a firm grip on your bank account.

I'm amazed at men in this state that bow down to threats of their ex over financial control. 50/50
I'm amazed that so many men are so eager to enter into what amounts to a business contract whereby whenever she's ready to leave she gets half your shite plus lives comfortably off of alimony and child support while 'finding herself' with Dae'quan and the squad

For every 1 guy that's a dbag like your father, there are 10 good guys who are ruined because courts are requiring men pay glorified prostitutes obscene amounts of money that very rarely go to those for whom it's intended (the children).
