For men going thru divorce in LA.- Just know Community Property is 50/50: Update Page 5.

Don't let your stupid ex think different. Up until separation date all assets/debts are 50/50 no matter if you or her cheated. Doesn't matter. The bitch can try to lie/cheat/steal, if you have every financial statements/assets/debts available, then half is yours, the good and bad. End of story!
Dudes, protect yourselves- keep all financial records for yourself(copies) take pictures of everything in house, take what has been inherited from your own family before she sells or burns it.
I'm amazed at men in this state that bow down to threats of their ex over financial control. 50/50...FIGHT for the RIGHT. It works!

Property settlement, sure, 50/50.
Where the women try to get theirs, is in alimony and child support. That's where they try to take the men to the cleaners.
My bro in law pays $1,000 a month in child support to his ex. She has no requirement to show how the money is actually spent. That's the problem to me.

Part of the theory of child support is so that your child doesn't live in poverty with one parent. I get that the Child Support Guidelines Louisiana uses are absolute shite, but if he's paying $1000 a month, he's probably making decent money or has several kids with her.
Alimony on the other hand, it's like drawing out of hat what the payor is going to get hit with.

LA has a child support calculator. If he thinks he is being robbed, he can call DCFS and request a review.
Previous 1040, 5 pay stubs, receipts for eligible child care costs you paid, and insurance costs go into the calculation
I send my checks to DCFS and they disburse to my ex. This eliminates any question regarding payment.
