Affirmative action at its finest

Can we see the average testing scores for those groups?

Along with a breakdown by group of the average scores of those who applied but were not admitted

Your ask is more fitting to the article. The other poster needs to understand a little more about med school...

Diversity for the sake of diversity is never a good thing but there are some professions where it should be illegal. Doctors, pilots, etc, any job where other people’s lives are in your hands should only be the best of the best regardless of demographics.

Another useful stat would be the drop out rate separated into these groups. The biggest concern for a med school is if a student will end up dropping out or flunking out. I’d bet affirmative action increases those, since less qualified students are accepted in those cases. If med schools are increasing their exposure to suit an agenda, that would be pretty damning

A female urologist checking my balls doesn't sound so bad.

These patriarchal tests don’t take those with test anxiety into consideration

Seriously, a product of the media belittling men all the time, especially white ones, that have affected their self esteem and taken away men's drive to excel.

Just because they get into medical school doesn’t guarantee their ability to graduate or pass the board certification exams. You know, the actual limitations on their ability to become a doctor.

More and more types of schools are moving away from simply looking at test scores and grades for admission. There is an understanding that not all students learn or test the same. Also, life happens and that can affect academic standing more than ability.

This. Most schools look at gender and race more than any other metric

If you see a white male doctor, thank him, because he had to overcome a lot of diversity to get where he is

Okay gun to your head. Your child needs life saving heart surgery. You can choose from two doctors. One is a man and one is a woman. Assuming all other things are equal, which do you choose? Remember your child’s life is at stake and you have to pick one.

I choose the man every day

I more than happy for this. It’s a little more pleasurable when they check your prostrate.

Idk.....the woman has smaller fingers. You could argue the small fingers puts her at an advantage in doing heart surgery in a small child.
