I've been so proud for not reading anything at all from this thread so far.
But the fact that's it's grown to 12 pages is starting to tempt me.

You're in Alaska, right? I would imagine that having pretty loose restrictions in Alaska is doable given the demographics and population density.

But I also don’t think it would be career suicide. People would support it. They have bought into “lockdown until a vaccine”
Look at Kirk Herbstreit, he has bought into that mindset

Me too.
Remember there are political implications here in addition to science. I didn't vote for the guy but I understand his ranting about running out of ventilators because we were competing with other states to get a share of the federal supply. I don't fault him for that.
ETA: Am I wrong on this? I thought he said extended social distancing measures during the summer (which I would be oaky with). Did he say lockdown?

It's been 2 weeks and the tone in all of this has already shifted.
Trump is already talking about suicides due to economic collapse.
People will not blindly support this indefinitely. as the economy crashes around them.
It won't happen.

Yes. Hair salons were still open when the social distancing orders were in place.
They were not closed until the "stay at home" order was issued.

Oh I know, the majority is probably more where I am. Massive paycut, enough savings to ride it for a few months, mad as hell about having to do it and losing every bit of that security that takes so long to get.

As for all auto accident deaths, we have approximately 71 per year in the United States.
