Moss seems pretty reasonable, I doubt he hopes or is wishing we will be shut down any extended period of time.

I didnt saying he is wishing. I am simply asking if he will still be listening to the govt if they keep extending the lock downs

The problem is, "flatten the curve" proponents have to understand the shutdown has to be lengthy to be effective.

At what point is enough?

It would depend on what the data said at that point, but it would be difficult for me to support a complete shutdown like we have now.

I can't think of a scenario where I would support this unless there is some crazy mutation that makes the virus deadlier.

Not being rude, but does your brain inherently keep trusting the govt is making the right decision, or will you eventually disagree at some point?

I'm inherently anti-government and I wish there was some other way to combat this spread without government intervention. But even with a tremendous amount of government intervention, people still don't take it seriously or are too stupid to comply with really easy spread-reduction techniques. I'm sure I'm not alone noticing that half the people in a grocery store are incapable of staying six feet apart from one another even though it's incredibly easy.

This falls under one of those rare categories where government intervention is necessary.

I do agree it is a balancing act.

But why?

Not being a smartass, but you are talking down to anyone for "disagreeing with experts"

So I dont see why you can see yourself disagreeing with the experts going forward

I do, plenty. As a family we're taking care of them, making their groceries and whatever else we can do to help them stay sane and isolated. I am still seeing more people than most (trying to salvage my job) and im staying away from the ones at risk.

I get it, none of this is very complicated. It is extremely frustrating that we have to live with these sweeping policies that people are demanding becuase they think the government can protect them from a contagious virus. They'd rather uncle sam do it than do it themselves, and I'm bleeding my savings because of it.

One would hope that our government and medical communities invest a lot of time improving our pandemic response protocols after this.

Why do you think “People” is used in the constitution and not “Person”?

I gotcha.

My issue isn't my breaking point necessarily. My wife and I both are working. But i know hundreds of workers and business people who are at the very end of their ropes at the present time. Lots of folks haven't had a paycheck in weeks and the can't sustain this.

True.

I dunno. I wish our shitty arse politicians (both sides) would stop bickering like fricking children and attempting to stuff these stimulus bills with fat and focus on working together to develop a unified plan for the American people to resume normal life. It’s a tough decision, but has to be made and discussed. But that won’t happen and the media will continue to try to drive the wedge.

What would not listening to them entail for him in your mind?

Simply not saying "listen to the experts and govt, they know best"

First, I'm not talking down to people for "not agreeing with the experts." In order to disagree with someone, you first have to comprehend what they are saying and the vast majority of people in this country are incapable of that (on all sides.) I'm talking down to people who have passionate opinions but don't understand the first thing that are saying.

Like I said, its a balancing act. Plus, the question is difficult because a lot of things are going to change this week, next week, etc.

If Louisiana is on the farside of the curve by the end of April and we have a multitude of medical facilities available, plus access to rapid testing, then I would be pretty upset if we didn't repoen non-essiental businesses with some type of social distancing limitations in place.

But, I don't know if that will be the case - I hope so.

Why not allow business to stay open with less draconian measures?

Some "essential" weed shops and liquor stores are limiting the number of patrons that can be in the shop at one time. Seenpms more intelligent that the authoritarian route.
