You clearly didn't read the article b/c they were already deemed essential and are only shutting down b/c of outbreaks of CV at the plants. They weren't shutdown b/c of shelter in place rules.

So, I guess that whole Chinese export deal is off again given COVID-19. I wonder how much if any of this is wrapped up in their loss of revenue that comes from not being able to export to China again. BTW.. the pork shortage and increase in pork prices as a result was happening regardless of COVID-19, but yep, China is at the root of that problem too, as the African Swine Fever wiped their herds out.

Same for Banquet and other processed food producers. They get sweetheart deals from communities that end up cost them in the long-run.

Yep.
Had some loon on my hood Facebook group posting about this meat shortage and even included an interview with a rancher claiming the government is making them slaughter their animals to throw away.
Even tied it all in with the 5G crap. Sadly we live around a lot of old people who are too ignorant too know any better.
So yes I predict a run on meat.

No. I want this company to bring in workers. You don’t think they have the capital? bullshite. It’s better than shutting down plants. But they see the government bailing out the airline industry, the banking industry, hospitals. They are pandering for free money saying they are as important as hospitals and are frontline workers.
The government and its handouts are always worse than the original problem. Look back in history and that is always the case.

This is the real problem. It’s a switch in the supply chain.
They tested everyone and of course a lot of them have the virus. Most of them were probably asymptomatic. But if Tyson says they have a “breakout” and are shutting down that solves their supply chain issue and opens the door for government bailout.
Trust me, if they we incentivized to keep the plant open it would be humming, but just like people who get their government check they have more incentives to shutdown and pander for government handouts.
