The media has been beating this drum for weeks trying to instill panic. Yes, these plants face challenges on Covid, but as unhappy as it may make some, the country is going to have to carry on. Especially in this area. The Covid hysteria is past tiresome.

The media is to blame for the chairman of Tyson putting out a warning that he thinks the food supply chain may be in trouble b/c they are having to close plants down due to outbreaks at their facilities? Really?

This biggest challenge is a lot of the workers make more money per week going on unemployment (with the federal $600) than they would working.

No i think we are saying there is absolutely no reason for it. Explain why a virus that kills most elderly and probably 0.6% of those infected should shut down meat production?

I didn't say they were to "blame." I just pointed out that they have been harping incessantly on this for a long time. If you have been paying attention even a little bit, you know this to be true. I'm sure the chairman of Tyson has his own motives. I am just ready to move past this disease that kills a small fraction of a percent of those infected.

Because they may still be sick enough to not be able to work, even if it doesn't kill them. It's not like they're hanging out at a desk all day.
As far as your solution of just go and hire younger people who may not be as effected, a lot of these plants are in BFE areas that probably don't have a large pool of potential employees to pull from.

This.
Companies like Tyson buy up smaller competitors, close them down shifting production to mega factories in BFE parts of states that give them the biggest incentives, said areas tend to be the same that have called CV a no big deal hoax, said areas get slammed once CV hits their populations. To put it short, big arse corporations trying to save a quarter of a cent on production have destroyed the local food supply chain thus leaving the overall national food supply chain extremely vulnerable to major disasters that strike in their mega factories.
Unless you want the government to start conscripting young people and moving them across the country to work there isn't much the owners of the processing plants can do once CV hits a plant.
