No surprises here ... everyone who follows the market has known this for some time. Since fjb took over it's been headed this way.
These companies give millions to the left. Just being honest here.

One day, we'll realize that the politicians are united. It's only the voters who are split on party lines.

Bright side of a depression, companies will need to start worrying about taking care of customers again.
A depression tends to drive competitors out of business, making the world safe for big businesses and their ability to increase their prices even further.

To change a wiper blade?
Are you handicapped?"

Things like chicken and eggs came back down about a year ago.
For eggs I think it was more like a few months ago. There was talk about about a federal investigation into egg price collusion and within a month wholesale egg prices dropped 50%
Definitely a coincidence though

That's pretty obvious and while this bumps up the price at restaurants, I am pretty sure some have added their own bump up in prices as well. I understand they having to make up for losses during the pandemic shutdown, but there are places that pretty much doubled their prices.
I went to Superior Grill awhile back. For 2 people, no alcohol drinks. No dessert, order of white queso.. With tip included the bill was $66.00.

More than one thing can be true at a time. Food production costs have increased, and companies are taking advantage of that to raise prices as high as they can get away with.

But his daddy and pappy always trusted the local shop to change the blades...
I don't get this crap either. I can buy Rain-X Latitude blades online for under $20 a pop, which are nice, premium blades, for under $20, and spend 30 seconds putting them on (where they will last 2 years or more), while not being shocked by retail markups.
I guess this is the thread where people just assume there is no cost in holding inventory, which needs to be made up for with higher prices when you have low turnover.
The absolute stupidity of many posters is amazing. Ukraine exports a material amount of global grain. They're at war, and have had exports restricted. Most of the EU and some of Asia has greatly limited the use of fertilizers and herbicides that have been safely used for decades, less supply. Energy to produce fertilizer costs more. "Stimulus." Higher prices.
But yeah, it's totally Mondelez that wants people to buy fewer bags of Oreos.

They will charge as much as you’re willing to pay, and not a penny more.
I'm certainly not for big business and against us little folks but if that's the going rate to maximize profits and people are willing to pay for it, a corporations duty is to it's shareholders so it is what it is.
Supply/demand, economics, etc.

But but but it’s The Market setting the prices! You can’t tell private corporations what to do! If you don’t like it why don’t you farm your own food!

But have you seen chicken wing prices come down in restaurants? They are killin it charging us almost $2/wing in some places these days.
They should start coming down soon at restaurants. They usually lag behind on price decreases.
Im not sure I know of many examples of restaurants lowering prices on regular menu items, aside from "specials" or sale prices.

The Government printing money makes all other money in circulation worth less taking more of it to buy the same goods.
Printing money causes inflation. Always has, always will.
The Government can blame it on whoever they want but inflation is caused by printing money or in this case spending more than is brought in.

Rob Reich is just mad that he can’t ride any rides at Disneyworld. Everything he says is disingenuous at best. Usually it’s an outright lie.

Base oil which lubricants are made from is $5 per gallon in bulk. That should decrease with the access to high paraffin crude in Utah in about a year. It cannot move far via pipeline due high wax content.
