Flying to McDonald's on my paramotor

This is how I'll be commuting from now on.
YouTube
If I lived full time out in the country I'd definitely give this a shot. Probability of dying on first flight? 100%.

I was just looking some up. Looks like 1 stack of high society. There are cheaper ones but I get the feeling these are the types of machines you don't want to get a "good deal" on.

In one of his videos the thumbnail says $2,500 on it
ETA: That video is titled, "flying on a budget."
Sounds like they typically cost between $8000 and $12000 new.

His FAQ page says between $8-12k. He also recommends training and says the better training is about $3500.

Ultra lites are a hell of a time. Don’t need a license, and they’re as easy to fly as riding a bike. Throttle, rudder, go cart engine.
I’ve never tried a paramotor, but have to imagine it’s about the same. Looks fun.

I live on Lake Lanier and there is a decent size group of guys who fly these over the lake a lot. Mostly in the summer.

Tucker's living the life. Has a cute GF who also flies paramotors and he's a member of a paramotor aerobatics team. Bought a Mercedes van and rigged it to carry his gear and have a bed in the back. Neat kid. I've seen a few of his videos and they're so relaxing when he turns the motor off and glides.

Something tells me that the first second you started scooting around BR on one of these, some assclown law enforcement officer is gonna find some obscure law to be able to arrest you on because you are flying and no one can control you

More likely would be some thug shooting at you or following you to rob / steal it.

a guy around here used to fly one of those things
he ended up landing in thew swamp a few times and went in lake Pontchartrain once before he got rid of it.
he said its great for the first few months but then is a little boring after you get used to it, kinda like driving in your car but with a better view.
the parachute gets shreaded if you land any where other then open fields but all the money is in the wearable backpack style engine.
the times he crashed were due to dirty air filter (not enough power) and the rest were bad fuel (water in gas), or dirty carb issues.
EDIT: and no i dont know what he paid for it but he said it really wasnt that expensive

sounds like a clear case of trespassing over property owners air space can be used to harass you

Recently saw a documentary about a guy out in WY or CO (I can't remember which) who was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident and then recovered. He took up the paramotor thing during his recovery and now has a non-profit that takes paralyzed athletes and veterans on rides (tandem set up) as part of their recovery.
Interesting part of the doc was someone talked him into taking an autistic / Down's kid up. Turns out they LOVE it and the doc showed him taking several challenged kids riding. You would figure it would freak them out but it doesn't.
I want so badly to get into this but, like the OP, I just know something would happen first flight out and I would pancake from 1,000 ft.
