Or, the PCR could not tell the difference between Covid and flu.... Both are viruses.. Why would masks have only stopped one of them? Seriously, think about that and ask your doctor friend to explain. .

it is freaking exploding here in the Thibodaux / Houma area. It just makes you think all this testing was pure BS and fake

or.... just bare with me, maybe just maybe people wearing masks, using the frick out of hand sanitizer, and staying away from eachother made it a lot harder for the flu to spread.

crazy I know.

B/c since they're not the same virus they don't behave exactly the same?

Like why can't my wife's Honda CRV keep up with my neighbor's Porsche Cayenne? They are both crossovers!

You think masks stop the flu but not Covid?

They help curb the transmission of both however COVID is more contagious thus the masks as less effective with it than they are with flu.

Honestly the last time I had the flu it kicked my arse more than when I had Covid last year

During the sick part my last bout with flu (probably 2019) was worse but it was just one super intense day mostly.

AFTER the sickness, Covid fricked up my stamina/breathing for a lot longer than the flu. Although the flu got me for about 3 days after and I forgot just how bad that shite wipes you out.

That would mean none of this stuff, masks, distancing, worked for covid.

2300 cases in 2020. That was after an estimated 38 million cases in 2019 season. That is pretty much impossible, but those are the reported numbers.

Why is this mysterious to so many? The flu is a disease that is passed around, just like covid. The steps we took to control covid also slowed down the flu.

BTW, I had the flu in December 2020. It wasn't non-existent. The USA had about 500,000 deaths from Covid last year. We typically have 35,000 flu deaths. It's not like they can fake a covid pandemic by reclassifying flu deaths.

Because it dropped from 10s of millions to less than 3000. The polices in place were 99.9% effective against the flu? Come on, Peter Pan!

Man this post just further cements the fact that there are a lot of complete morons. You could convince me the flu was down 25% with the masks and lockdowns etc but it was down over 95% per the “data”. Those of you who believe your physician telling you it was down because of the masks and washing hands etc are beyond help. At least half the covid cases were flu. The CDC quietly admitted the tests they were and still are using cannot distinguish between covid and other viruses. Good grief.

But, gimme a break on "mitigation" strategies eliminating flu, but not Rona.

The initial reproductive factor for covid was more than 3. The initial R factor for the flu ranges, but is always less than 2. If we mask and social distance enough to cut each in half then covid will still spread while flu will disappear. The "break" you need is from opining.

Scientific, peer reviewed paper showing Ri for flu (often below 1)

this tells me you have no clue how PCR works. it just isnt a thing that pcr mixes these 2 up and this is obviously a nonsense thought and any half decent 'doctor/friend' will talk you out of this stupidity.

True, but, upvoting this statistic is kind of gruesome. I'll just leave it at that.

They are just agreeing, and it IS true. The amount of stupidity, coming from the left and the right, is astounding.

Left-wing nutjob thinks:
1. Covid is so dangerous I have greater than 25% chance of being hospitalized
2. Children are at terrible risk
3. Cloth masks are effective
4. Natural immunity is weaker than vaccines

Right-wing nutjob thinks:
1. Covid is just the flu
2. The covid vaccine is dangerous
3. The dems and Bill Gates released covid on purpose

Flu case DEATHS range from 30K’s to 60k’s generally but it varies every year. Of DIAGNOSED cases. And hospitals have been reported as “overrun’ and “ overburdened” every year with flu cases also. There are multiple millions of flu cases every year. Usually. Stats are pretty easy to find.

This tells me you have no clue what you’re talking about as most facilities still use the rapid test which is a joke. The PCR test takes much longer and is more expensive. The PCR test also amplifies the test material to a level that could be so insignificant the patient doesn’t have enough virus load to show symptoms or spread the virus. The whole thing is a scam.

Some of the flu’s biggest spreaders are lack of hand washing, being in close proximity of someone who is sick, and schools. This is pretty common sense.

Nah man this totally rational explanation makes no sense and I reject it in favor of conspiracy theory.

You all need to look up "viral interference"

We have seen this before on more local scales

in the early 2010s, the UK had a rhinovirus outbreak and the flu was basically nonexistent that year

the theory was that the rhinovirus out competed the flu that year

most scientists believe the same thing happened with COVID, but on a much larger scale
