This probably gets dropped if they can’t prove he didn’t humanely kill them
Article i saw earlier had him quoted saying he cut their throats out of spite type situation. Then threatened to kill the rest of them upon release from jail to prevent them from being seized by the county.
quote:
The man “admitted to killing the bird by cutting the bird's neck out of spite, then bleeding it out, and then later eating the bird after cooking it on a frying pan,” the affidavit said.
While he was being taken to jail, the man told deputies that he would kill all of his pet peacocks upon release to prevent anyone from taking them, the sheriff's office report said.
This isn't farmer John living off the land, it's a psychopath acting out vs animals, regardless of whether he's using them as food afterwards.

He was just trying his hand at Halal butchery.
"This involves specific practices for raising and slaughtering animals, such as the humane treatment of the animal and a swift throat-cutting procedure that removes blood from the carcass. The term "halal" itself means "permissible" in Arabic. Complete blood removal is essential because blood is considered haram (unlawful) in Islam."

Peacock meat is edible and was considered a luxury food in medieval Europe, though it was known to be tough and dry. Modern culinary descriptions suggest peacock meat has a distinct, earthy, and robust flavor, similar to turkey but richer, and requires careful cooking methods like brining, slow roasting, or sous vide to prevent it from drying out.
Flavor and Texture
Flavor: Peacock meat has a unique flavor that is described as distinctively earthy and robust, with some finding it similar to turkey but richer.
Texture: The meat is generally described as firm and can be tough. It is a lean meat, making it prone to drying out during cooking.

I hatched 64 bob white quail this past spring. I got 47 of them to 10 weeks old. Then I slaughtered 31 to keep the best 16. 4 roosters and 12 hens.
They are like a pet, I enjoy taking care of them and hearing them whistle…but damn they are tasty.
Non story here.

Bingo. Someone finally gets it. Ever since man first domesticated animals, most have been raised and bred for consumption. They feed you, not the other way around.

How much time do you think he will get for this?
Then he gets to go home knowing which neighbor turned him in.
She might want to be worried.

Why is the rabbit after the horse? I wouldn't eat a horse under normal circumstances, but I've eaten a bunch of rabbits. The scale is flawed.

It’s legal to do this with chickens, pigs, cows, etc that you own. Why is this any different or more cruel? Cause it’s not a common animal to eat?
