He is a lab that loves people and will run up to anyone at the door. No way in hell would I let him just run out like that.

Same here. I have beagles and they are friendly to everyone. A cop would certainly put a bullet in them if they ever got out for sure.

if I walk onto your property without permission and your dog attacks me do I have the right to shoot it?

You are now getting into liabilities and various other laws so that isn't enough information to say one way or the other.

Yeah our dogs will bark like crazy anytime someone knocks or rings the doorbell. I have a metal screen door so I can have that closed and open front door to make sure dogs don't run out.

Good lord.

You're in your house with the door closed, someone knocks on the door and shoots your dog. Dog bleeds out on the sidewalk while wagging it's tail.

Can we all agree that the cop shot the dog so that the owner would come outside before putting a shirt on?

Would we all still be upset if he shot the cat instead?

Every jackass here would be laughing or praising him if the retarded cat would have jumped out at him and he smoked him.

unfortunate situation, I can see it both ways

Right

Police officer comes to the door unprovoked, opens the door, dog runs out so he proceeds to murder the dog

I can't see how there is any side to this other than the officer being crazy

Yes. Shooting a firearm in a neighborhood like that is extremely risky.

I love dogs. But, the dog is a "mixed bully" and it is not uncommon for drug dealers to sic their bullies on the cops. He sees a door open - thinks there might be a crime. The door opens - no person comes out but a bully dog does. He has a split second to determine if the dog is friendly or not.

As long as the bad dog owners misuse pits and other bully breeds, this will happen.

There are two sides to this.

I've been out shooting photographs a couple of times when stray pits have come up to me. Both were friendly, but you can bet I was damn wary when they approached.

Mine will bark once, run up to the door, and wait. Anyone that comes in he will sniff and get all excited.

His arse gets put into the office if its someone I dont want him bothering.

Also, we can't hear anything but he was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. If I look out of the peephole and I see that and he's telling me he's a cop on my property for no reason I'm telling that dude to frick himself and I'm grabbing my gun. He put himself in an extremely dangerous situation all around.

I'm not the one advocating dog killing. It must suck to go through life a pussy. You get raped by a dog or something?

I am not sure that dog was even attacking him. Could be just excited and running towards him..

That is just heartbreaking to even attempt to see.

I have dogs run up to me all the time, I always let them smell the back of my hand then try and pet them. I have never had an issue and could not imagine shooting someones pet like that. Police don't care, they like killing dogs, and I believe that 100%

The even scarier part is his weapon was facing a house with who knows what in it and he shot multiple times purely on instinct.

It looked to me like he shot straight down on top of the dog and not "at the house." But without the sound, there's no way to really tell when the shot(s) was/were fired.
