It's a pretty simple solution:
If the Union doesn't want the schools to open, don't open them and don't pay the teachers anything. Let them file for unemployment

FWIW, I spoke to a local teacher at the HS track.
Nice lady.
She was telling me it's all like everything else today.
10% are just crazy. But, the scream loudest and for some reason people listen.

I would always snicker during every commencement ceremony at UGA when they'd announce the first honors graduates (graduates who finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA).
There were usually about 20-25 each year, and about half would be early childhood education majors.

I agree with you about the unions. I also agree that too many teachers complain about pay and benefits (great benefits and job stability are biggest reasons I went back to teaching/coaching in HS). Trust me, the teachers doing all of this protesting are pissing me off too. But you’re generalizing. Most teachers don’t belong to unions, and most of the teachers I know are humble, hardworking, and ready to get back to normal. Just like with everything else, the media will fool people gullible enough to believe that ALL teachers are these loud, obnoxious, and lazy protesters.
I get it, we have time off and vacations and get to drink daiquiris and mimosas on the beach everyday. In the fall, which is in season for my sport, I work between 70-80 hours a week at the school. It’s the best damn 70-80 hour a week job on the planet, and Im fortunate to be able to do it for a comfortable living. But stop acting like every teacher doesn’t do jack.

Teachers don’t seem to love their jobs as much as they suggest. Every other profession is back at work. Private daycares all across the country are open with kids in them every day. Yet teachers don’t want to go back to work in schools and did a terrible job by all objective standards of distance (lack of) learning. It just stands to reason that teachers won’t get paid if they don’t want to do their job or can’t do their job, as they suggest.

Plenty of teachers don’t like their job, and those teachers should probably look for another position.
Online learning was a mess, and it’s silly to think it’ll all of sudden improve enough to be the best option in the fall.
I’m a teacher and will be just as angry as anyone else on here if our district goes virtual

It's frustrating that you get shamed if you say this in public.
It's the truth. It's not fricking healthy to be morbidly obese, which she is. If she got the disease and ended up dying, some of that has to fall on her shoulders.
