An easy solution would be to force teachers to show up to work on their normal schedule if they want to get paid. Make them do the virtual lessons from school. That way you force the ones who have children to make arrangements and suffer through home schooling with the rest us. I guarantee, the ones with kids will be begging for schools to open back up after having to pay a babysitter for 40 hr/wk.

Sounds like many are planning on doing this, at least the districts that are doing hybrid online and in-person. Don’t know about the all virtual ones

Considering here in Louisiana online learning had no training and was a spur of the moment decision with no planning or implementation.... It was, Friday after lunch teachers are told no more in class learning, Wednesday start distance learning.
That Monday and Tuesday of the following week was essentially just giving out laptops to students or paper copies of work. So of course it was going to be horrible. Plus there was no accountability for students, everyone was passing regardless.

What I'm seeing now is that many districts that have a 1 to 1 laptop to student ratio are training teachers on what programs to use and how to use them. So all teachers and students are on the same programs along with now having penalties for students who are not doing the work or logging in.

I'd like to point out to the mods that no one should ever be banned again for "doxxing" or "threatening" this dude when anyone who can understand context clues knows the situation. It's straight-up bullshite that the admins ban anyone who brings up his profession or makes comments about it to him, when he knowingly does it to himself. seriously, it's some one-way street bullshite on the mods part.

Universities should revoke athletic scholarships for the fall sports that are not played. It would save the universities a lot of money. Lazy arsed entitled athletes are worthless without sports.

Cut the janitorial/custodian staff - cut utility consumption - cut PE teachers - cut secretarial staff - cut janitorial supplies - cut food costs & lunchroom staff - cut bus drivers - cut bus/transportation costs.

Those razor thin budgets should've been able to pile up a surplus of savings in the last 4 months that school has been closed. IF they go virtual then they will see continuous operational savings.

To save lives, we should move everything online. Now we only need one teacher per grade per subject. They can teach their one hour and spend the rest of the day grading papers and answering questions over video conferencing.

This will allow us to keep the good ones and pay them the 6 figures they want.

This also removes the need for admin at every school so let's cut that by 95%.

Far more to do with the explosion in administrative staff and money spent outside the classroom than what most folks would consider necessary "education" expenses.

That is where the fat needs to be trimmed and raises could be found for good teachers.
