Turns out it is a Chinese vehicle called GWM Tank 300 (Great Wall Motor).. perhaps some of our aficionados here had heard of it, but I hadn't .. not gonna lie it looks pretty bad-arse in person .

There are a lot of vehicles overseas that aren't sold in the U.S.

Yes .. incidentally when I saw that Tank 300 today, in the same parking lot I snapped pics of these two electric vehicles .. ive taken Uber rides in both vehicles many times, the BYDs in particular are as nice, or nicer, than any Tesla ive ever driven or been driven in .

That's because a lot of countries and their auto manufacturers aren't going to bend the knee to the ridiculous standards that our government requires for every little tiny thing from the extra brake light on the rear, the thousands of worthless emissions sensors, the now mandatory back-up cameras, and all the other thing that congress has forced our manufacturers to include to drive up the cost of the American automobile to painfully high prices.

IYAM backup cameras are damn near indispensable. I dont know how I got along without them.

I agree and absolutely love having it, but it ought not be a federally mandated requirement.

It's more of what our gubment allows, not what the car companies don't want to spend.

Hilux trucks, especially 4 door model, are legit. Had a couple on our FOB in Iraq that we ran around in when not expecting contact. Wish they were sold here as they are all most people will ever need for light hauling trips to HD.

You probably used your mirrors or turned your head and looked, like people have done in over 100 years of driving automobiles.

I upgraded the electronics in my truck, primarily to add a backup camera. Of all the new capabilities I got, the backup camera is at best the third most popular after CarPlay and HD radio. Maybe it's just habit, but I forget to turn it on most of the time.

Now, it's great if I am trying to hook up to a trailer, but I use it less than I thought I would, even though I sometimes force myself to use it instead of my mirrors.
