Sounds like you are being a good dad.
I was at the damn ER so often I thought I was going to be reported to DHS, my little ones were just megs explorer. (and even people that didn’t like me would concede I was a great dad)
Just love them and commit time to them and you will be fine. You will not break them, they are much tougher than you think.
I used to read to my son for 20-30 minutes every nite, even though some times I was so exhausted I would fall asleep too. We read 100s of books together. I would highly recommend you do that if you can, it was just our thing and it is still some of my fondest memories.

Also highly recommend Frida brand anything and Kyte sleep sack when they transition out of swaddle while we're throwing in suggestions

So you don’t think he was abused or something, he got bitten by dog (twice), pulled a stool over on himself, fire ants once, ate the whole bottle of baby vitamins etc.
We spent 1000s on baby proofing everything. The little guy used to run head first into the wall and almost knock himself out for fun. I thought I had a future linebacker for sure.
There is no fear like that over ones child. Oh and yes we lost him once at Walmart, like everyone else. (Lol)
2 to 6 months of limited sleep, and then getting sick all the damn time are the worst parts

It doesn't get easier. Just wait until he's a fricking toddler. My life is literal hell right now. My boy is jumping off the walls from 6:30am until 8pm. He rarely even takes a nap anymore.

Just wait until he starts smiling. It's smooth sailing from then until he starts walking. All bets are off after that.

It gets a little more manageable when when they start sleeping better, and the shitty parts are more enjoyable. Newborns are cute, but it’s super thankless grunt work.
Mine is almost a year old. He started walking at 9.5 months, and he is SO freaking busy all day long. It’s exhausting since he’s in everything, but it’s also so fun. He learns a new skill practically every day. I can give him specific tasks (“go get dada’s shoes and bring them to dada”), and he understands. He climbs like a monkey and laughs nonstop. He sleeps from 6:30pm-6:30am. It’s way more rewarding than the newborn potato days where you feel desperate for one full night of sleep.

Brother, just wait, you have no idea the complete and utter joy and complete and utter insanity that comes with really getting to know that little gal as a toddler.
My wild arse boy just turned 4 and despite about 1 arse whippin per day, he is the total, complete and utter joy of my life and a lot of that feeling has really blossomed in the last year when he has grown to be the wild, hilarious little a-hole that he is

I have a 3 yo and 2 month old boys. The 3 yo is well on his way to starring in a next generation Jackass movie. Never naps and seems to just get more energy as the day goes on. Hell on earth is a great way to describe toddlers.

In my experience the 3s are worse than 2s - not sure why it’s called the terrible twos - threes are worse

Felt like yesterday I was in your exact shoes, 8 months later hasn’t a damn thing changed. Dude has fomo so bad just refuses to sleep or nap like regular humans his size

Dang man… ain’t for the faint of heart. Tell you that
People get tired of hearing that you have no idea what you are in for thinking it’s not that bad. And then they have a child and realize people were right.
I don’t know about it getting better, it just gets different. Diapers and bottles turns into daycare and homework and then sports or cheer or whatever they are into. And then cars and college. It’s never going to be the same, but it’s worth it.

I frickin hate babies. I have a 4 y/o and a 1 y/o. That shite doesn't get any better till they start telling you what they want instead of just crying and you're sitting there playing the guessing game trying everything you can to make it stop.
My 4 y/o daughter is so much fun and the love of my life. I wish she would stop growing up so fast and my 1 y/o son would hurry up already.
You and I are in similar boat. Couldn’t agree more
